How would you know if you injected into a vein?

Other the the rather nasty dying part, what are some obvious signs? Reason I ask is I just did a delt shot and a lot more blood than normal came out, and there was blood on end of the needle tip, I aspirated and didn't get blood so I think I just maybe nicked a vein or went through it. Anyways kinda freakin out so any reassurances would be great.

dont worry you probably just hit a vein with the tip of the needle, happens all the time. youd know if you injected into a vein

In about 30 injections, I've drawn blood twice. However when I drew blood it didn't come out to easily, I actually had to give the stopper a little tug with my thumb.

A friend of mine who is a former intravenous drug user told me that when the tip of the needle is in a vein, you barely even need to touch the stopper, he said the blood pressure is enough for it to pump a little red colouration into the syringe straight away.

I've always been curious about this... but I don't feel like testing it out by sticking a syringe into a vein... I'm a vein virgin when it comes to injecting so I'd probably be shaking holding the syringe.

Worse that happens is short coughing fit, which is no fun, but you wont die. I dont know where that rumor started (or the rumor that you will die if there is any air in the syringe). It all goes into your bloodstream soon enough anyway, i/m just slows it down a bit.

after you insert the needle in your muscle pull back on the syringe before injecting, if you see any blood pull the needle out, stab again and repeat. I've nicked a vein before and had quite a bit of blood squirt out. i've heard injecting in to a vein is pretty unpleasant but not super dangerous
