Meridia is a stimulant. It decreases appetite by acting on the CNS. It blocks the reuptake of norepinephrine by the neurons. Usually started at 10mg for 4 weeks and then increased to 15mg once every morning.

I found the PI. "Mode of Action: Sibutramine produces its therapeutic effects by norephinepherine, serotonin and dopamine reuptake inhabition. Sibutramine and its major pharmacologically active metabolites (M1 and M2) do not act via release of monoamines. (Meridia patient information- Abbot labs)

So is this a long acting norepheinepherine? If its once a day it must have rather long half life??

    When I take NYC- Norepheinepherine/ Yohimbe/ Caffiene
I take it three times ed? Should I only be taking it once ed (QD) twice ed (BID) or three times ed (TID)??

How long is the half life of Norepheinepherine??
    Thanks Willpharmd

The drug itself is not norepinephrine. It prevents the body from "reabsorbing" the norepinephrine that it naturally produces, which results in a higher level of nor to react at the receptors.

I've never heard of oral norepinephrine being taken. Even when given IV the halflife of epinephrine and norepinephrine are only 1 minute. R U sure it's not ephedrine your taking.
