    Joined the army

Didnt find the right section to post all the questions at once so i guess ill do it here..

I'm 18 and yesterday i joined the army, ive gotta do my tests february 5th and my tests are :

    running 2400meters (1.5mile? used a converter..)
    25 pushups in 1 minute
    20 situps in 1 minute
400 personal yes/no questions to get to know me
    and some sort of exam

First of all, running the 2400 would be hard but no problem, the 20situps re easy as it can be, questions even more, exam is no problem, but the 25 pushups, jezus, i can barely do 5 pushups now :s and i need to do 25.. in 1 minute.. any idea how im gonna do that in 1 month?

PLUS my BMI is a little high they say, i need to lose +-5kg (11pounds)
also in 1 month, they do count in musscle mass so probably dont have to do the full 11 pound, or at least i hope..
But i have no idea what diet to het to lose that, in only 1 month :s

Im starting to day with running blocks, im gonna get my weights on friday..

    what to do

You seriously cant do 25 pushups, do like two sets of ten in morning same at night, then increase each set by five each day, your max number of reps in a minute should go up

if you're looking to do steroids for the key out of this mess it's not.

if you can't do 25 pushups in 1 minute, then start going to the gym and working out your arms/chest,

pushups are easier to do then situps, last time I did the test, I did 30 sitsup 1 minute, and 75 pushups in 1 minute.

Military push ups are with arms close to the body . Much easier to do than having elbows out in the traditional fashion .
If you pass doing the minimum the basic training days will be a struggle .
    I would start ASAP .

To get a 'respectable' score on your fitness test you need to be able to do:

    Pushups: 70 (in 2 minutes)
    Situps: 75 (in 2 minutes)
2 Mile Run: 14:00 or below

Make that your goal. If you can do that is basic training, you will earn mad respect

Benchpress and decline-situps will help you out big time. Make sure to hit the treadmil for about 20 minutes after each workout

You have your work cut out for you brother. Be consistent but train smart, don't hurt yourself before you ship.

Also, like BigKuntry1984 said, you need to set your goals well above the minimum. You should be maxing the full apft before you ship (or at least 270+). Good luck, finding a mentor might be a good idea.

If your a 18 xray be prepared to be treated like shit when you get to your ODA, you pretty much get handed E6 when you make it out the Q course. If you make it through selection..
