Abscuss due to injection??

Hey guys i recently posted a thred about injection pain.. I done a shot of test/eq last sunday all was well , 2 days later i started getting severe pain from the area and it begun too swell up and was very warm too touch.. I waited a few days hoping it would go away... By day 5 it was sorer and more swollen than ever so i went too the doc and he put me on antibiotics and told me it was an infection
. Today is day 6 been on antibiotics for a day and a half, the lump on my ass is about the size of a golf ball and very hard too touch and doesnt look like it wants too go down... The more i read up the more i think its an absuss and aparently the only way too get rid of them is too have theM cut opened and drained... THIS REALLY WORRYS ME!
My question is , has ANYONE here ever experienced something like this and has it gone away with out surgury, and if so how long will it take?? Also is there anything else i can do too help it.. It really has me scared mainly because i just started my cycle and i dont want too be out of the gym at any point..

dude that sucks if it still hasn't went down even after the doc gave you antibiotics then maybe you should go back but give the meds time to kick in and it isnt like surgury they will num the area and cut it open you will be awake ive seen them do it to an arm of a friend

Your going to need to go see your DR again (or a different DR) or like T said the ER. But you wont die from it today. so I would just go see the DR or maybe a "Prompt Care" place. You will be glad you did.
Did you tell your DR it was form an Injection? If not you should. Deep tissue injections from needles are NO JOKE.

I had an abscess lanced about 7 years ago..mine wasn't from injection (was on the inside of thigh from an abrasion opened running) .Don't stress the "surgery" part of it. I wouldn't even call mine surgery. From the time I was in the room, the whole thing took 20-30 minutes till I was on my way out the door. As far as pain...the soreness from fixing it was a RELIEF compared to how it felt before....a couple of days not working out below the waist along with some anitibiotics and an ace bandage compress and you'll be fine.

Well I wish you lived near me. Im at work now in the ER I would suggest 5ml of Lidocaine HCL some iodine to clean it up and first start an aspiration with an 18Gauge if that didnt work I would go with an 11 blade and make a small incision and squeeze it like a pimple when you were 18 getting ready to go out. 1 Dose of IV Cipro and send you home on 500mg Cephalexan for 7 days....Dont miss the muscle during your injection and try to use better sterile technique.

If you have any questions on what to expect when you go to the ER post them I can tell you what exactly to expect. I would suggest being honest it was from AAS. You dont have to, you can say you were bit by a bug or spyder but depending on your physical apperance they will put 2 and 2 together.. So much for HIPPA LAW I had a pt. few months ago come in and tell me a spyder bit his arm and it became infected. As im taking my notes I notice he is about 220lbs 5'9 shredded with veins like a garden hose. My next question is Ok so ill ask 1 more time how much gear are you running and do you trust your source and what are you taking... He blerbs out O thank god I thought you were one of me! Long story short no I & D (incision and drainage) for him just a lesson on injections and some antibiotics. Hope this calmed your nerves maybe it did maybe it didnt!

Thanks heaps guys for support, i stoped in at the hosplitle again this afternoon and they said that i should at least give the aintibiotics a few days to work, and they dont like to cut unless the abscess starts to look red and shinny.. atm it just looks like a red rash.. i have applied heat and its dealing with the swelling a bit.. hopfully i will go bak in a few days and they will cut it for me to releave the pressure and pain, its killing me.. i told them that i sat on a nail last week that was about 1.5inch long and since then its got worse

Is there any posibility that this thing will go down buy its self.. atm it just looks like a red rash on my ass but if u feel it its like a massive ball unda my skin?? The hospitle said they dont like too cut until u give antibiotics a go? are they just wasting my time?

No they arent wasting your time I have gotten balls and knots from an injection many times have 2 right now left quad and right just luck of the draw can happen from pushing your gear 2 hard. The hospital is right the way you made it seem I thought you had a hard protruding lump. I will not cut into your skin unless it looks like a massive pimple that is hard and visibly raised sticking out from the skin, I have no problem lancing into it but I will not just cut you open hoping the his the infected sac inside. Antibiotics are able to resolve the issue just give it a little time. How many days did they put you on for and what type and whats the mg?

Hey mate, well it is pertruding a little bit, say 5mm.. But its not sorta clear/shinny like a pimple u know.. its more just a flat mattSe red color.. not shinny at all..
They put me on Staphylex 500 .. 500mg flucloxacillin.. 4 tabs a day .. 24 tabs in a packet and 2 repeats...
I also have keflex 500 on hand if these run out...
should i give it a few days and if there still there goto a doc again an ask for a cut..

Also the guy below said not too use the gear again... theres heaps of ppll i know on the same gear, its a real good source over in the US.. but i transfered it to glass 10ml vials from sterial plastic bottles and guessing some how contammed it..... will it be ok if i run it thru a .2 whatman filter??
