As far as my understanding goes, clen works by mobilizing fat and having it readily available for fuel. (However, only a small percentage of your total calories burned are going to come from this.) Clen makes me cramp us like crazy and I can't run on it. Others don't seem to have as much of a problem with it. If I were to take it again, it'd probably be if I was near/in single digits, definitely not trying to drop a lot of fat. (Can do that just fine with diet tuning.)
