Buying Gear outside of the tourist areas in mexico

I will be living in mexico after three weeks but far away from the borders and beaches. I just wonder if anyone has experience in buying in the no tourist areas. I have heard walmart sells them but I dont know if all of them carry it in their pharmacies.

Well if you go anywhere in mexico that has a walmart the chances are that even though it is not near a beach it still has a bunch of tourist. The more little towns that have small pharmacies are alot better and cheaper, they are there to make a living not to get rich off of tourist. I go to mexico maybe once a year but always to a small little town in central mexico and my cousins come up on stuff there that would cost them more in the city or the main tourist locations.

I also, have found that the small towns are cheaper. But, if they have Americans buying from them on a consistant basis, the prices are going to be high. Shop around before you buy.

AND Bro, being in the KNOW of the security industry BE CAREFULL down there at this time, know your surroundings, carry cash hidden on you to pay-off someone to get out of a jam, know where the nearest hospital/clinic is (safe heaven), and the last advice: have the nearest US Embassy #, address, and call them and let them know you are in the area (with dates). Don't act paranoid, BUT have your head on a swivel (know your surrounding).

    Safe Travels,

So I shouldnt be afraid to ask them if they sell them over the counter?

like 7 years back I remember walking into any spanish pharmacy and buying it like it was a can of pepsi. No questions or hassle.

Besides what has been said. Always haggle. Especially if you are white. You will look out of place and get hit with higher prices.

When you call the Embassy, ask what the status is in that state (threat level) and there recomendation for travel. www.ciafactbook.com

Make a color copy of your passport. If you lose your PP you can get into a US Embssy with it.

Yeah just go in there and act like you have done this a bunch of times, like clgip9 said ask for it by name and dont mention a prescription they might get suspicious or charge you more. Good luck and be safe bro and stay out of ciudad juarez....for your own safety bro its crazy out there to the point were I dont think I will be going this or next year...at least until all this crap gets under control.
