trouble drawing...

i just got a bunch of new drawing pins. went from 19g pins with simple red caps on them to these 22g fancy type with a clear cap, pink locking latch and gray twist base.

when ever i try and draw with these new fancy ones it feels as if there is allot of resistance and i am unable to draw.
i camera is shot so im unable to post anypics at this time, was hoping someone might be able to help out as i only have a few red drawing pins left (the good ones)

i actually do warm it up a little bit in a cup of hot water but that should effect it since i cant draw at all with the fancy pin.
