Tell me if this is BS

I met a girl last night that told me she had lost 65 lbs this year with the help of HCG. She went on explaining what HCG was and I had to play stupid so she didn't think I was a juice head.

Anyway she said her doctor had prescribed it to her to take 2 injections per week subcutaneously. I was like WTF pretty sure HCG was an IM injection. After looking it up on google aparently there is a new thing called the HCG diet. Claims that men and women can lose up to a lb. per day and keep that weight off even after they go back to their normal routine.

Is this BS? Has any male on here tried this before with success?

i had a friend go to a welness clinic and get on the hcg diet. he lost alot of weight, 80 lbs pretty rapidly. HOWEVER, i think the key is that he was on a super strict 500 calorie diet. maybe the hcg helped, but i see it more as the 500 calories is what did it.

at least in my opinion he was, and probably your friend, were looking for the secret to losing weight. they focused on the hcg as opposed to only eating 500 calories, if they just ate 500 calories on their own it wouldnt have worked because they wouldnt have gone longer then 3 days.

Yeah the girl I was talking to said something about only eating 500 calories, but I thought she was exaggerating. 500 cals WTF! How is that a healthy way to lose weight?

the HCG diet is fairly common right now. i know lot's of older people (45yrsold+) who've lost around 50 lbs but this also has to do with the 500 calorie diet the docs put you on. that cannot be a healthy way to lose the weight and what happens after you start eating normally again? THE WEIGHT COMES RIGHT BACK. to lose weigh one must 1. diet, 2. cardio, 3. weight train, 4. sleep and have lots of sEX

The part about taking HCG subcutaneously is correct, it's not a IM therapy. However, taking for dieting is kind of crazy in my book.

Anything will work if you restrict your calories that much. I'm pretty sure there is no studies that prove hcg helps with fat loss.

    HCG can be shot subq.

they claim that hcg helps fat metabolism and therefore you wont feel hungry even on 500 cals because you are using your stored fat much better

There is ZERO evidence that using hCG in combination with a 500 calorie a day diet is any more effective at weight loss than the calorie restricted diet alone. The docs selling this stuff are only doing it for the $$ -- they charge insane money for the protocol.

My GF tried this. We determined that the HCG that she ran for one month in conjunction with a 700-1000 calorie/day diet, and a training program, had no effect. When she just did the diet and training WITHOUT the HCG the difference was minimal if any.

She dropped 14 lbs in a month, and continues to lose weight with a normal 2000 (healthy) calorie/day diet and training.

Luckily she's dating me and I was able to source her the HCG for WAY cheaper than they sell it in the clinics.

for lack of a better description, the hcg "tricks" the woman's body into thinking it is pregnant, and when a woman is pregnant the way her body operates is quite different. the body will work harder to store muscle and and can operate in a calorie deficit more efficiently than a non pregnant woman.

ya ive heard of plenty of guys doing this too. its definitely the calorie restriction that causes the weight loss. but they claim they dont feel hungry while on the HCG. thats the part i dont get about it.
