Hey friends. I'm asking you to take 10 seconds out of your busy lives to make a difference in my daughter's entire life and other children like her who have Rett Syndrome.
Rett Syndrome mostly affects girls and mimics autism in its early stage and eventually takes their lives from an age of as early as 8.
It's a genetic condition of the mecp2 gene that lies within the X chromosome. Girls have 2 X chromosomes while boys have only 1 with their Y chromosome. Grisl survive Rett Syndrome longer than boys because they have the second X chromosome which is always healthy. Eventually though, the X Chrosome with the bad gene dominates their bodies and eventually takes their lives.
Researchers are real close to curing our girls through what else than you guessed it, IGF-1. IGF-1 from increlex is to start clinical trials on 12 girls this Fall as it proves to nearly cure mice models with the same condition.
However, more funding is needed in order for the cure to move forward with the cure. Pepsi is getting involved by awarding $250,000 to the number one voted best idea. We were 70th place last week. Today we are 16th. With a little help, we could possibly get there.
