What does everyone use too sterilize their injection site and the top of the vial? The stickies say "alcohol swab" is rubbing alcohol ok? Or maybe just some vodka lol

alcohol swabs.
In Australia we get them free from the local needle exchange so its no big deal. But if it werent an option Id probably just go to the chemist and buy some.

Gotta admit, none. Im not sure if i remember the info correctly that sweeping the site doesn't help that much but anyway better safe than sorry. Depends on enviroment etc. ofcourse theres situations where it would be stupid not to sweep atleast the vial especially if is some family size and when sweeping the skin just do it one way, one sweep, dont rub or it will be propably even more dirty. Common sense is adviced, never got problems even tho the amount of shots was pretty extreme when i was training seriously. And yay like said before what product you should use, something thats designed for that

alcohol swab for top of vial and site preinjection. Then a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol post injection.
I do this because i have had bleeders that a little swab cant handle.

I know this but my cotton is barely damp. I use pressure to stop the bleeding and the alcohol to keep things sterile. I never have a problem with getting the blood to stop and most have little to no blood at all.
The bleeders i was talking about werent ones that wouldnt stop bleeding but rather one that had a large amount of blood come out at once right after the pin is removed

Thats one way. Healthcare personel tought me another way to do it which i ofcourse tweaked a bit but point is when you inject to site which usually bleeds (not everyone has this problem, or maybe if you have lots of scartissue). Anyway when pulling the pin out (*), immediately it comes out you can use fex one of those alcohol swaps or just plain hand since you're not to touch the injection site but to push (glute for example) the muscle sideways and then pull it back to another side firmly. That closes the passageway. And yes, propably would be wise to use alchohol swab at first. I also tend to pull the pin to the halfway after injection, wait a little and do the trick. Thats only for glutes tho if i get the feeling its going to bleed this time.

Isopropyl alcohol does kill bacteria.....
One should ALWAYS swab the vial AND the injection site.....
