    AI may prevent epiphyseal fusion

    so it's the accessive estrogen that may fuse the growth plates shut?

    it would explain why I have heard that the use of low aromatising AAS e.g var would have a less risk for epiphyseal fusion

    That could happen if AAS used before or around puberty time, as the epiphyseal cartilage stops duplicating around the end of puberty age. Once passed that age the entire cartilage is replaced by bone slowly.
