I have to say though I like the idea of NOT opening your box for a couple of days. As said if nothing else it gives you the deny-ability out. Not yours, you are going to return it to the USPS.... Hey it's worth a try.
Yeah, I don't see the advantage to a PO box. I've never done it, but I would imagine sending it to a hotel room would be pretty safe. I used to work at a hotel and packages would show up all the time for "guest" in Room Number xxx. Can't get much more anonymous than just room number. And when you check in, the front desk gives you the package, and I would say that it'd be pretty easy to deny that you ordered it and that it was just a coincidence that you checked in to that room and had no prior knowledge of a package.
Just a little common sense is needed when ordering via mail. The funny thing is that common sense is not so common anymore...
