How do you determine the gauge of the needle?
Does it vary depending on the substance?
example what would Test E be 18, 23...?

You base your gauge on the viscosity of whatever it is you are doing. 23 would be fine.
It has nothing to do with the actual compound and everything to do with the viscosity of the carrier (oil) and solvents used. IMO, good gear should flow through a 25g syringe when warmed.
i think either 18 or 16 gauge is used for piercings. Only thing needles that big are good for is that or to make it easier to draw the oil into the barrel
haha yeah i read one post on here about a guy having injection pain who was injecting quads with an 18 guage needle. I thought i was a glutton for punishment using 22's But back to the ops question. Definitley nothing lower than a 22 for intramuscular injections. 23-25 seems to be the pin of choice for most.
I have started using 21 to draw with, trying to keep the rubber on the stopper in better shape and use 23's in the quads and 25's in the delts. Just go slow with even pressure the injection will be alot better and less painful being patient.
