Thread: Needle depth when drawing test from vial?

Needle depth when drawing test from vial?

So I am on my last few doses in a 10 ml vial. When I stick the drawing needle in I usually push it in most of the way (to the bottom of the vial). I then flip the vial upside down to draw the test out. Question is does the test come out the same regardless of how deep the needle is stuck in the vial? I always push some air with the syringe into the vial before drawing. Reason I'm asking is sometimes it's difficult to see the test in the syringe and just want to make sure I'm drawing enough into the syringe. Thanks.

Hope your joking... If you push it all the way in all the time and flip it. You wouldn't be using half the vial.... Keep the pin in the oil... And pull what you need....

Obviously if the tip of the pin isn't in the oil you will pull air...

Doesn't make sense though because you can't hardly see the oil line in the vial and it'd be impossible to draw the last one or two doses unless the pin was barely in the vial.

This is the site I went to for injection instructions:

    http://www.steroids.org/Steroid-Injection-101.php

Step #5: Fill the syringe with an equal amount of air in comparison to the intended dose. Then inject the air into the vial (this practice helps keep a balance of internal/external pressure which makes future withdrawals easier).

This morning was the first time I didn't notice the syringe filling with a little oil on its own when I flipped the vial over which suggests the oil is pressurized to an extent and will draw into the needle from the vial even if the tip of the needle is not in the oil itself as you are drawing the dosage.

You can't every little drop out, but if you angle the pin as you draw you can get most of it.

Well, I feel like a jackass now. But at least I'm figuring this out the first week on cycle instead of Week #6. I think this morning was the first time I didn't get a good draw from the vial. I suppose missing one dose of 75 mg test prop isn't the end of the world, but it pisses me off. lol

Um. All you have to do is watch the the tip of the needle in relation to the oil. If jamming it in to the max isn't past the oil line, then go for it. When the oil gets used up, then obviously you're going to have to not put it in as deep. As far as pushing air into the vial... I've read to do this, too. I wouldn't. I like to keep a vacuum in the vial. I don't care how long it takes, and with a 22g, it seems to come right out, no problem. Like in your other thread that guy talked about needing to tyndalize the vial. Well if you get less than a vacuum in that vial, you'll have air in it that might not be full of sterile particles .

    This is mind-numbingly stupid...
If you have an amber vial and can't really see your gear, just stick the pin in a little bit and draw. You'll obviously be able to tell if you're getting anything out.
