Arrow deprive my body of food for better gains ?

i have been told by a gym mate that it is good to occasionally deprive your body of food etc. i was tlking to a guy who has alot of expirience and i was saying i have a week off every 6 weeks and he told me during that week to just have 3 meals a dat brekkie/lunch/dinner all with good proteins and carbs etc and also no supps. he said to do this to also shock your body for when you go back to having 6 meals plus supplements a day. he does this just before a steroid cycle too . does this sound a good diea yes ?
    cheers

I think you would have better luck with carb cycleing.
I get what your saying but there are safer and healthier ways to go about it.

Marcus has A good thread out about priming ( depleting glycogen stores ) before cycle for optimal gains.

If anything I would go to a super high calorie diet. When I am trying to put on weight I go for a 5k calorie diet.. ALL GOOD FOODS! then I will drop to a 3k diet with more cardio. Your body needs nutrients, depleting them can only do harm long term.

Periodically lowering total calories can be an effective way to gain weight in the long run. The body can get used to a constant high caloric intake, causing a reduction in food absorption and nutrient partitioning. By temporarily reducing cals, we can get the body back into a state where it wants to hold onto nutrients. Then when you increase the cals again the body will make better use of the excess food than it would otherwise. However, you have to be careful with how much you reduce your intake and for how long, as you do risk losing lean body mass if you are not careful.

there is a such thing a 'priming' but this is just carb depletion for a period before a cycle/bulk training, makes the muscles nutrient 'hungry'. check out the thread by marcus 300
