Painful injections
Been out for a while and now getting back to the gym. I have injected a few times with a 22 ga. 1.5 inch needle and have tried going in 1 inch and others 1.5 inches and i still get the same pain for bout 3 -4 days and everytime I do, also get a metallic taste on my tongue for a few minutes. Is that normal or is it the type of gear being used?

is the site itchy or red days afterwards? where are you injecting with those sizes?

What part or parts of the body are you injecting

I have injected mostly in the outside of quads, outer shoulders, and sometimes glutes, because I got into an accident and my pointer and middle finger on my right hand got cut off and pretty hard for me to twist my body around, bc I have to use both hands when injecting mostly.

No, the site is never itchy or red at all. Just the next day feels like a bad pulled muscle and can barely move or use it.

How much are you injecting at each site?
22G is a pretty large needle. Depending on how viscous the medication is, I would go with a 23G or 25G. I have given thousands of IM injections, and I started using 27G 1 1/4" on most people (in the deltoid,) and they work just fine. This is mainly vaccines, which are not thick.)
My guess is that with that large gauge needle, you are probably injecting too fast. Smaller diameters and longer lengths increase resistance. You can bolus stuff in through a large gauge needle, and you don't really want to do that into a muscle.
Put the needle in quickly..like a dart, Aspirate , then inject slowly. Leave the needle in for a second after you finish injecting. Pull the needle out and then massage the area with a fair amount of pressure for a minute.

What are you injecting. Prop can hurt for several days after injection. Heating the liquid prior to injection helps a lot.

When I inject test, 500mg/wk, I feel flu like symptoms for a day. Test prop hurts like I got kicked by a horse. The first time I injected my quads I couldn't walk the second day. It got better as my body got used to the compound.

If you are making your own prop use a 50/50 EO/GSO blend, problem solved. Thanks Bonaparte!

I usually get in a hot shower right after injecting. That helps me any who.

I will definetly try the 23g or 25g injections. Now, the 27g... can that size also be used for other parts such as the outer quads or calves? Because it is very difficult to do my glutes. With the higher gauge, does that mean I have to inject slowly and allow the gear to move slowly through the syringe instead of too fast. Do u think 1" would be deep enough because I don't have that much fat on the injection sites, or can i go 1 1/2" deep? Will i get the same effectiveness because of the depth into the muscle or is that too deep? Definetly I will start doing that size gauge and let you know the results. Thank you very much for the input.

Try 23-25G.
Massage injection spot afterwards, this will do WONDERS!
Take a hot bath before and after (losen's muscels).
run it under warm-hot water.
Make sure you dont move the pin around when you jab it, inject slowly, swabs before and after.
Follow these with some other peoples advices and you should be fine, I skimmed through the post so I am not sure i f this is your first injections, if so a huge reason is because you have virgin muscels so wether your doing it perfect it wil still be sore but if your doing it wrong, its almost an unbareable soreness.
GOODLUCK!

you'll be trying to push that oil through for an hour if you use 27... maybe a 25 for hcg or anything water based. i'd say 23 smallest, but that's just me. i've used 25 for biceps because i felt weird pinning them.. but it was more mental than anything.
remember it's oil. would you try and force syrup out of an insulin needle? lol. and those are 29g. 27 is way too small

I agree with not using too small a needle, just take your time and move the pluger slowly. If you use a really small needle you may end up moving the needle around as you try to force the pluger home..a sewing machine action never results in a painless injection LOL.
Also as far as heating the gear, I have never had any trouble with pressure building inside the bottle and I take a small pot and fill it an 3/4" with scalding hot water and then put it on the burner at low till its probably ( I have a digital pyrometer but on clear glass serum vials its hard to measure) 140° or so what I do is heat it till it feels hot too hot to hold on the back of my finger. What I have found is that by the time you draw up the gear into the syringe and sit down alky wipe etc. the gear is down to 110° by the time you are injecting it. But this is my experience, some of you guys may be quicker movers than me...and if you blow the top off you bottle don't think I am sending you a refund LOL.
Everyone I have talked to experiencing painful injections was either not inserting needle to an adequate depth in the muscle, using the wrong location to inject, injecting gear that was too cool, injecting too quickly rupturing tissue or massaging to quickly (right after injection) causing leakage to the surface or too roughly causing both leakage and muscle tissue damage ( note if you experience pain within an hour or so after injection its almost always either too fast, not deep enough in muscle or massaged to roughly) .
Good luck,

switch to 23g and massage the place a few minutes after injecting

Would the length have to be 1" or 1 1/2" for the outer quads, biceps, calves, etc. Or depending how much fat is there around the muscle when injecting so the injection doesn't get too far into the muscle?

Unless you are really fat or really massive a 1" is the preffered length for the legs, shoulders biceps and calves I am not sure on as I have not pinned there yet. PS just because a needle is 1" does not mean you need to go in 1" I generally insert the needle about .8" on thigh shots, and insert the 1.5" needle about 1.25 on glutes.
As far as biceps and calves do you really plan to hit those right away? The biceps if you have any problem like soreness (or God forbid abcess) will really screw up your workout, and calves are painful as hell for most. Generally by rotating glutes and thighs and then shoulders if needed you have plenty of real estate unless you are pinning multiple short esters.

Definitely try the 25G pins, 22G is quite a bit bigger.

25g 1" works well for most sites. 1.5" for glutes if you can reach them (I cannot)
Be sure and change needles after filling the syringe. Never draw and pin with the same needle.
If I have thick or cold gear, I heat the filled syringe with a hair dryer for a minute or so prior to injection.
Be as steady as possible.
Inject slowly.
Gently massage area.
