If 3k was your maintainence levels you will recomp your body.. You will lose a little fat and gain some muscle.. It wont be dramatic in either area but IMO yes you would still like the outcome.

just like if you were to go under the 3k, you would cut up nicely and still gain strength.

I like how people go from 3k that they are used to then start a cycle and go to 5k instantly.. Then brag how they gained 25lbs in the first few weeks. When you up your cals 10k a week i could care less what substance you are on, you are going to gain weight.

So true above. A massive increase is not usually necessary

You need to increase your calories as you start to build muscle tissue, this will support the new found tissue, if you dont after the cycle you will lose everything you have gained because you simply dont have enough calories to sustain that mass, this is were many guys go wrong they dont adjust the calories. You dont have to eat dirty keep it clean. I increase my cals straight away on day one of the cycle and carry on increasing to support the new tissue I am building, but dont increase alot just small amounts. Majority of guys go on cycle to build tissue so your going to need the calories to build and support this goal

I guess that makes sense but I have never really thought about it until now.

youll put weight on with same diet. Your body will get more out of the food you normall eat than it would before. Depending on goals most people increase calories to get the maximum amount of weight gain. I never usually up my calories on cycle because my goal is not to put on 20lbs, i usually eat alot cleaner however.
