Depends on where you are injecting, and how much body fat you have. I typically do Delts, and use a 5/8 inch. Many people suggest a 1 inch, and I would too if you aren't very low BF. For your ass, you need a 1.5 inch.

Damn Fetch,
I am suprized to hear that, I use 1" on delts and insert at least 3/4" of it into the shoulder usually 7/8". I am not super cut or massive to say the least (6.1 212 lbs) but I would be confident in saying I don't carry much fat on my shoulders ( they have slight striation) but whatever works for you.
Anyway I when I first started pinning shoulders I was nervous about it, since I did not have massive shoulders and remembered painful vaccinations as a kid. So I looked on the web and read a medical study on bottoming out on the bone when injecting shoulders (owchhee) The study was done on girls 8-12 yrs old and found that when inserted to the hilt bottoming out resulted in like 60% when using a 1.5" needle and dropped to 20% with a 1.25" needle and was somewhere around 6% on a 1". It was at this point I decided I did not have much to worry about since the medical technique is to bury the needle with a dart like motion and using that technique ( which I never have had the nerve for LOL) even then very few shots bottomed out even on little girls of <12 yrs age.
PS I can't imagine using a 1.5" needle in the shoulder of a 8-12 yr old girl, If I found out that a male doctor had used that on my kid, they would be adding another case of supposed roid rage to the medical annals.
Anyway I agree with your response that most will say 1" for delts, thighs, and 1.25-1.5 for glutes. A 25 gauge is preffered by most and is what I use. However this is to control the rate of injection, not because a 23 g will cause major tissue damage as so many think. As far as pins for other locations, I do not pin biceps, triceps etc so I can't speak for them but I would say unless you are an advanced user you are probably better off to stay with glutes shouders and thighs for now.Last edited by Far from massive; 02-17-2011 at 02:27 PM.

I draw 21 shoot 25 or 27.
I can do anywhere from 1/2 to 1inch on delts, 1 1/2 on glutes/VG. 1 on quads. 3/4 on lats, 3/4 on tris.
Small needles take a while but leave less scar tissue.

Do you have needle exchanges in Canada? You can get them for free and in large numbers if you do......
I use 25g pins for delts, thighs, pec.
23g for glute/ventroglute only.

Is it absolutely necessary to switch pins after drawing gear? Can someone explain more clearly why it's so vital to do so? I don't fully understand why I could draw and inject with a 23 gauge, 1.5 inch needle. I know it can save time by drawing with something a little larger, like maybe a 21, but would it cause infection risks? Even if you're sterilizing the top of the vial first?

I don't want to hijack his thread, it seemed like OP's question is answered, and I am also planning a Test E cycle. Thanks.

The point of switching pins is to limit the risk of infection. Even by wiping the top of a vial, you are not sterilizing it. There is also the fact that once you go through the top of the vial, you have already dulled the pin down. By using a fresh needle, it is sterile and sharp. This creates less pain and less chance of infection. With needles being as cheap as they are, I see nothing but benefits from using a new needle after drawing.

Look at needle under a microscope, push it through something and look at it again. OK you probably won't do that but fi you did you'd notice the needle/tip becomes dramatically dull which leads to more of a sting when pressing through the skin. Another reason as mentioned before is infection, if you're drawing up anything from a vial swab the bottle top with alcohol and let it dry as well. Here's my protocol.
For a typical 2cc injection: 1ml test/1ml tren
I place everything neatly on the counter...
1amp of test
10ml vial of tren
1.5inch 18g drawing needle
1inch 23g needle/syringe.
box of alcohol swabs (cotton balls incase you bleed more than normal, it happens)
First wash your hands and then proceed to swab the top of whatever vial you will be using.
I unwrap the 18g package and hold onto it sheathed I then unwrap the 23g package slightly and make sure to take out only the syringe/plunger and I leave the sheathed needle/tip in the sterile package.
From there I twist the 18g tip onto the plunger, grab my vial of tren, unsheathe the 18g needle stick it into the vial and draw 1ml. When that's all set I put the 18g sheathe back on while I pop the amp open, once that is done I draw out the test oil. Put the sheathe back onto the 18g and twist off and throw away then slide the plunger with 2ml of oil into the package where the 23g needle/tip is sitting and twist on firmly.
Swab your injection site, let air dry then unsheathe your 18g syringe, poke, aspirate and if there's no blood, inject.
You'll avoid discomfort and most of all you'll avoid infection. I hope I didnt miss anything and that it's helpful.

just walk into a shoppers drugmart, go to the pharmacy counter, ask them what they have in stalk in ways of pins and syringes, if they dont have what you need they will order whatever you want in for you. No tax on that stuff either
