How much aromatase inhibitor is required while on cycle?

While on cycle I take .5 mg/day of Anastrozole to counter excess estrogens. I used to take .25mg/day and started having sore nipples.. My question is... Am I taking too much? Doesn't too much counteract the work that steroids are doing? I inject 700ml testosterone propanate/week..

It's an individual thing. If it takes that amount to keep nasty estrogen sides at bay then it's just right.

Absolutely. No two people produce the same amount of the enzyme aromatase, i always advise starting on a low dose AI and adjust if neccessary, quite often arimidex at 0.5mg 2 or 3 times p/w is sufficient to keep a good T > E ratio on cycle.
