Thread: Dont know if package was seized or not?

Dont know if package was seized or not?

I keep checking back on the tracking website and it still says foreign international dispatch and origin post is preparing shipment, but that was 3 weeks ago and nothing else has changed since? It is a registered mail piece but I can't figure out why the package hasn't moved or why haven't I got any kind of noticed saying it was being seized. Has anyone experienced anything like this where your package was like in 'limbo'?

In some case's you don't get a seizure letter or thats what ive been told. 3 weeks seems a long time to be held up sounds like its been confiscated

    hmmm...

I mean the country it came from had a new year and that might have slowed it but since it is registered mail it is going to give out the least amount of information compared to lets say an express piece of mail. But when I pull up the tracking it won't say it entered the US and being held in customs or not? Far as I know its stuck on the boat that could have sank in the pacific. Have no clue where/what happened to it.

Hmm so do you think the tracking will change from origin is preparing shipment to country seizing package? there has to be some way where I know definitely if it got seized or not.

It never shipped. It's only they printed a label but it never left their warehouse. It's a basic fake/scam lost of companies do just to keep you waiting longer thinking it was shipped. The Nigerian scammers do this stuff all the time to make it look like whatever is being shipped to you but in fact it is only the initiation of the shipment, not the actual shipment and they didn't even spend any money on the shipping label.

If it wasn't against the rules here I would post the tracking number but I can't but here is the only info I can post:

    Origin Post is Preparing Shipment
Foreign International Dispatch, February xx, 2011, x:xx am, SHANGHAI, CHINA PEOPLES REP
Foreign Acceptance, January 20, 2011, x:xx am, PORTEE

So it was accepted by the international dispatch so I doubt it was a scam, especially since this is my third time buying from my source.

doesnt sound good, probably got lost or someone took it. Give it time and see if you receive a customs letter but sometimes they dont and just flag your address.

China gets very backed up at the new year. The conatiner boats will get clogged at the ports processing them. I had a shipment of towles take 10 days to leave at the China port due to back ups last Feb/March. Usually only a day or two. I don't ship alot of "mail" packages, but I would imagine they are coming boat and could have just hit a log jam.

My last order took 30 days and I emailed the supplier and he said 30 days was not uncommon and to please be patient. Sure enough it arrived on the 30th day. BTW the tracking info never changed from being accepted at customs from the country of export until it was delivered. Only two entires in the tracking. This package came from Europe though. I wouldn't panic just yet. My next order I will plan a month a head of time.

I've had some packages take as long as four or five weeks to be delivered from overseas.

It could go either way. 2 years ago over the Thanksgiving holiday I had a package take forever to leave a distribution center. I waited 2 months for something to get to me from Isreal.

you should lodge and enquiry with the sender. Only the send can enquire as to the where abouts of the package, or you can get in contact with your countries' customs but you probably shouldnt bring unnecessary attention to the contents of the package

Ok thanks everyone. It still hasn't changed but from an economic standpoint, we have free trading with this country so unless the US wants to start paying back those treasury bills they better not seize it!

    Are you tacking with EMS?
If so try using that tracking # on the USPS web site. See what comes up.

Ramacher, 3 weeks is a long time. You probably should just write that off as a loss and be pleasantly surprised if it come through after all. Was it a large purchase? I'd be afraid to make large orders online.

Honkey Kong, it was shipped in January but didn't actually get into foreign acceptance til after the country's new year. so it has been since the 8th of feb since something new has popped up on the usps tracking website. Eventually something has to change on the tracking regardless correct?

  20. #20
hmm was researching it online and on yahoo answers it took a package more than a month after origin is preparing shipment to go from the netherlands to the us. CC34 2694 863N L

every time I order from an international source the tracking information only says being prepared for international shipment, even when it arrives at my house 7 days later it says the same thing.

It might still come, but if I were you, I'd assume it won't and be pleasantly surprised when it does.

Tracking numbers other than UPS and FedEx are well know for being totally unreliable. Often the stuff will say shipping label prepared till a half day after its delivered. I also agree with the statement that lots of shippers of legit merchandise as well as AAS often prepare the labels to make it look like they sent it, then the box may sit for a month before they get around to actually shipping it.

Last and possibly most important point, once you write a program for a computer its basically free to run it 7/24 with this in mind it seems likely that the post office, customs, DEA etc. would be as smart as me and figure out that people ordering AAS will track the hell out of a package particularly when it hits customs so all they would have to do is to set a program like this up to scan the number of tracking attempts and generate a profile.....maybe there is no such program but since packages basically arrive when they want to regardless of tracking info I always resist the urge to track and incoming package, not to mention if they do a controlled delivery that is just one more piece of evidence showing that you were indeed the orderer of the package.

I thought I made it clear I did not hear it at all, I just feel its likely that they would incorporate such a simple system since all the data is available to them. Of course the Feds are usually years behind in their thinking so its very likely that they do not and will never use such a simple system.

As far as saying that my statement is "whack bro" while that may be your opinion, I would say what is really "whack" is your statement that you would post up the tracking number if this website allowed it..but thats just my opinion.

Good luck on the package though, they often are just held up in the mail system.
