kickstarting a test cycle

Was planning on running Test E 500mg for 12 weeks, but since of the longer ester it doesn't hit you until week 3 or 4, so I am curious for how long do people use test prop at the beginning of the cycle 100mg EOD for? 3-4 weeks I am guessing or longer maybe?
