hypothyroidism and first cycle
Hi,
here's my stats: 6'3 255lbs, 25% BF (with calipers). I'm a very active athlete, wrestle everyday except sunday, and lift M-T-TH-F. i'm turning 20 in august and i have hypothyroidism. I used to take 2x25mcg of cytomel tabs twice a day until i switched docs and said i should start taking 75mcg synthroid once a day. I eat the 3 traditional meals a day, and mix in 30g of protein shake in between Bfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner. of course usually the Pwo is the 2nd shake. I've had my diet for about 3 years now since i compete regularly as of late. i'm looking to start my first cycle because i'm been strugglign in my strength gains. i've been followed by my endo doc and he always says its a marvel i have so much success. he says i have lower than normal test levels, possibly attributing to the gyno i've had since childhood despite hard training, sweating 15lbs in practice effortlessly.
I haven't seen many articles or info on people with hypothyroidism using gear and i'm reluctant to ask my doc, who's incredibly old but very exp in the endo field. anyone have any advice? I'm willing to wait but i'd like some concrete answers so i don't do something stupid.
sorry for this block of text but i appreciate any help.

Welcome!
First if all 20 is Way too early to cycle.
And especially for these reasons you posted:
25% BF is too high as a general rule
you already have gyno and steroids can make this much worse
you need to learn to eat better
and your test levels are already low and cycling will make them worse than when you started
PLEASE HEAD TO THE DIET QUESTIONS FORUM and you will get great help there.....

Personally, I think 20 is an okay (not bad, not great) age to begin unless you're waiting on a family growth spurt so that you make it to the NBA, NFL or MLB. The hypothy will necessarily increase your bf. Regardless of how well you eat this condition is contrary to fat reduction, so you can’t really be faulted for that. I'd wait to see how well the Syn works as you may need to have your Doc adjust or add to it (another drug) because getting the right T3/4 combination is key with this condition.
I agree with Slimmer in that low Test levels are a concern since you want your baseline to be at or close to normal, but if you're getting and impressing your Doc with solid results (which is also a testament to your training & dieting) they can't be all that low. Gear won’t necessarily lower your Test levels, with regard to recovery, just temporarily while cycling & during PCT. As long as you’re stable, and can mark your baseline prior to cycling to gauge recovery you should be fine.Master Pai Mei of the White Lotus Clan
