    I need a little advice

I have been training for years now (triathlon). I come from a cycling background and used to be a competitive runner (above average). Here is my problem and any suggestions would be helpful.

Diet is good. Body Fat is low (sub 10%). Training is on par.

I just can't seem to put together hard workouts on a consistent basis. I can come out of the gate hard, crush it for a few days and then be wiped out for a week. I'm tired of getting my ass handed to me by guys that I used to wax the floor with and I am always wondering how these guys can put together solid weeks of training without any missteps!

I am coming to the conclusion that most of my competitors are using something. What am i missing and what suggestions do you guys have for a athlete that wants to get back to being on top?

    How old are you?

What are you primarily training for? Triathlons?

I'm 36 years old. I am primarily training for Triathlons now. Endurance is not a problem. Power is the issue.

Swimming is like lifting weights. Lats and Delts and forearms are used the most. When I come out of a pool session I feel like I have been lifting weights hard for an hour. I just can't seem to be able to pull as much water as my competition. I put in the hours in the pool but I just don't seem to be able to build the power I need.

Cycling is like doing squats. My quads are strong, hamstrings are getting stronger, but again, the power is not there. I train with a power meter and have noticed that my power is dropping from the numbers I was hitting 3 years ago. I am off about 25 watts (in a :20 timed effort) from where I was 3 years ago and I am training just as hard.

Running is like lifting weights and being beaten with a stick. The stress running puts on ones body is amazing. You break down the body so much by running long distances and you break it down even more by running short (5k) hard races. It takes me two days to recover from a hard run, and I can usually recover in a day from a easy, long distance (7-10 miles) run. However, power with running is an issue too. I just can't build power and that comes in to place towards the end of the race!

I take many vitamin supplements (been tested and always have low vitamin d) and i have asked my doc about having low testosterone levels . My drive is not there like it once was but the doc says that is normal and my levels are a bit low but nothing outrageous. I feel like that is where my issue is but I'm not doctor, so I have turned here to seek advice.

I think 300mg is way too much for wha you are trying to accomplish. 100mg-150mg will put most men upper quartile of the normal range which is where I think you would want to be. 300mg will make you retain way too much water and gain too much muscle which will inhibit your end goal. 100mg should help you train harder and more often while avoiding water retention and estrogen issues. Just my opinion.
