NPC bodybuilder arrested – largest steroid bust ever in Austin, TX

What do you get when you mix a National Physique Committee bodybuilder with a fetish for guns, suicidal tendencies, a buttload of steroids , and leave him alone in his apartment for weeks at a time? I have no idea, but in this particular case, you get Damon Beshears, 38, a competitive bodybuilder from Texas, who had previously taken 5th place (novice) at the Ronnie Coleman Classic in 2007, followed by a first place finish (novice middleweight) at The Heart of Texas Bodybuilding, Figure, and Fitness Championships, and finally a 6th place finish as a light heavyweight at the Ronnie in 2008. He was arrested in possession of raw steroid powders, around 5,000 tabs, and 240 vials of anabolic steroids.

In addition, he had a pretty typical Underground Lab set up in his apartment (powders, etc…), but also had a good supply of guns (semi-auto rifles, etc..), a ballistic vest and a Kevlar helmet, and told the investigators that his plan was to kill as many officers as possible, and then himself, if he ever got busted. And, given his fairly large cache of guns (or if you’re from Texas also: his perfectly reasonable and Constitutionally protected cache of guns), he was arrested outside his home, as he walked to his car.

As happens with most NPC bodybuilders who get busted for steroids, he was narked out (I’m guessing by another bodybuilder).

He had been selling steroids online (no idea what his lab name is…help from readers would be appreciated), and mailing them throughout the country, and manufacturing the stuff from raw hormone powder that he had imported from China.

Damon, if you’re reading this, I don’t care what anyone says, that’s a really cool tattoo of a gun that you have on your chest.

    Holy Crap!

I knew the guy from my gym, but just one of those hey buddy type relationships...didn't even know his last name til now when I looked up the article in the Austin American Statesman. Hadn't seen him around in at least a couple of weeks and he must have known this was coming...

All that is left to do now is claim some outrageous dollar value of the drugs they have kept off the street. The will probably say this was a $300,000 seizure.

I respect law enforcement, but I often get a kick out of reading the dollar value of steroid seizures.

Yeah, a lot of this looks to be glamorized...pretty frustrating. I didn't know the guy well, but know for a fact he didn't stay in his place for weeks on end and find it hard to believe he kept a journal and made a suicide call. It really makes you wonder and a bit scared what power the DEA and FDA have over us and how badly they along with the $ and companies behind them want to control us.

Typical media hype on a low to mid (at best) bust.
As to the "Largest steroid bust ever in Austin Texas"...as they said in that gunfighting movie when DeCaprio fought the Swedish Champion "Am I that fast or is Sweden just a very small place"

He was employed by the Austin gov as a juvenille detentions officer from 1995-2006 and now hes a demonic killer....what a crock of horseshit. As far as him planning to kill as many cops as possible...my guess was this statement was obtained and extracted from 240 minutes of tape after 4-5 hrs of nonstop questioning (with cop after cop getting in his face and trying to elicit this kind of response) without a lawyer present ( this is why you should not say one fvkin word to the police other than I have nothing to say call my lawyer) and that he finally got pissed and said OK I will tell you what I was gonna do..I planned to kill as many of you assholes as possible...then at that point they all smiled and laughed knowing that they finally had a statement that could be used out of context to deny him bail and fry him in the media trial.

Sadly thats how most of these low life fvkrs work these days, the days of honest cops being the majority are long gone ( PS this is just my opinion based on the many simalar encounters I have seen and heard about in my years as a criminal attorney)

I'm against the fact that someone narced him out but look at the subcontext about him planning on killing as many officers as he could than himself.
I got love for my buddy bodybuilders but those would be senseless kills, just guys making an honest living doing their job. If you're going to go on a rampage, find people who actually deserve it. Glad no one got hurt.
