Do you 30 plus guys still get same pumps at gym?

    Hey,

Just wondering if yoiu guys in mid 30's still getting same pumps like you did in your 20's?

I for some reason dont get the same pumps i once did. And it drives me crazy. You think this is normal, or something is wrong?

    Thanks in advance...

Absolutely. Maybe changing up your routine from time to time will help. I rarely do the same workout twice in a row. Also, make sure you're squeezing the muscle while working out.

It is so hard to get your self to switch routines for fear that it will not give you the same results you used to get, which for me have been great.

I think the biggest problem is i have been doing the same thing now for about 8 years because it has worked so good for me in the past.

I go light and do 4 set of 15 on all. Two body parts a day, 6 days a wek. This routine with a nice diet get me down to around 7-8% for the summer.

Lately i have been feeling extremely tired, no matter how much i eat. I think its time to change. Im going to give it a shot, and do less reps, and less sets. I think im over training!!

Thanks guys. I hope your rite about this one, or im f'd and wont meet my goals for August which is when its vacation time!

P.S. i just started my cycle of Sus, Win, Fina, GH. About 2 weeks ago. Hope it goes as planned..

You're burning out bro, take more breaks.
I make much better gains doing 3 or 4 days a wk than I do with 6-10.
I constantly change up my routine so it's never the same, even if I do the same exact exercise my reps will be different. EXP:
    Back days (fav day)
I'll start with deadlifts, I generally do 4 working sets and 2 or 3 warm up sets. Warm up with 15 reps, add weight do 10 more, add weight, 10 more, than get to working weight and bust out 10, add weight and try to get 6-8 (I never go lower than 6 rep max)
I might do something similar with other exercises inbetween but in the very end I will toss in something like lat pull down and bust out 50 reps, I start heavy to where I can only do 15 than lower the weight and keep on going until just pulling the bar feels like I'm going to fall apart.

In my expert opinion and yours, you're over training. You're only 2 weeks in. I say take 1 week off completely and come back heavy after that.. I gain best with a rest break, I'm sure you will too.

No. I take off entire winter. I just started working out 3 weeks ago. I stayed nice and lean and dieted whole winter so im around 10% rite now. This tiredness is driving me crazy though.

I dont get it. I am rested. I havent worked out in 8 months!!!

If i could figure this out, with the way i look now, i could look insane in about 2 months.

Sometimes I get a wild hair up my ass and do 2 a days, even though I know it's hurting me more than helping I just HAVE to do it sometimes.
When I was in charge of rehab I was doing 2-3 times a day. One of the workouts would be some sort of cardio than the other two were just lifting.
    It burns you out quick

3 weeks at full intensity is enough time to start feeling the symptoms of over training.
If you've been out of the gym this long than your body has been detrained, you need to ease back into it instead of going in with a flaming sword full of glory.

Did you give yourself a nice rest from the gym before this cycle? Some people think that the more time you spend in the gym is better than giving yourself a break and that's completely false. I think you were over training as well.
Have fun w/ your workouts. I know it looks silly when working bi's to put 10lbs on each side of the barbell, but try curling it 50-75 times followed w/ v-bar pushdowns 50-75 times. If you don't feel a pump after 2-3 sets of that you're dead. Same w/ any other bodypart. Then next exercise go heavy. Even simple things like supersets w/ dips and chin ups are fun. Use your imagination and keep the muscles guessing.
I haven't had a solid routine in years. Well, what i'm saying is that i never know exactly what i'm going to do before i go to the gym. Only thing i know is what bodypart(s) i'm working that day. Keeps things nice and simple.
    Good luck.

Yes i took off for 8 months. I work out in a similar way to the one you mentioned. I do 2 body parts a day and walk in the gym with no plan. I do chest/bis, shoulders/legs, back/tries. 5-6 exercises of 4 sets of 15 for major, 4 exercises of 4 sets of 15 for second. 6 days a week.

This routine has always worked great for me but lately i get absolutely no pumps and have zero energy. Time used to fly for me in the gym now i feel like i cant wait to get out of there. It sucks!

I did blood work and all is perfect. This one i just cant figure out. Maybe im depressed. I dont know!

On occasion i get good pumps. Don't know what triggers it. I think doing a proper warm up to help get the blood flowing prior to weight training helps me.

Kinda surprised no one has said this yet..carbs and water. I force 2 banannas and a liter of water in the 10 min car ride to the gym. Has made a huge impact for me. I refill the liter jug and make sure I suck down the thing before I leave.

That's correct.. there are days where I'm lacking energy but the pumps are still good.

That's because when your on you are always working that smaller muscle due to the horniness effect and by the time your done with him your out of butt for a gym workout...It's a vicious cycle.

I still do at 37, if you're wanting a fuller pump add a bunch of very light reps at the ends of the workout. Like when doing curls, I like to grab the 10 or 15lb EX curl bar and do slow reps with full extention and squeeze until you cant lift it anymore. That'll do it!!
