75 lbs increase in squats...am i entitled to a rest day...

hey guys, usually ive been training 3 days 1 break day, 3 days break, etc.
on a second day (day 2) i was doing squats and because of diets and supplementation my squats went up from 175 lbs (normal real squats, all the way down not on the smith machine) to 210 lbs for 8 reps....

bottom line is my back is destroyed....and i can barely move and walk....is it ok if i take my break/rest day earlier than expected or should i kill myself until i reach day 3....in any event today its labor day so gym closes earlier....

    any thoughts?

Why is your back destroyed if you are working legs? Sound like you need a day off so you can research how to squat and use proper form.

Squat Form: How to Squat with Correct Technique
If you are working out in the gym and could only do one exercise it would be the squat. Why? Because no other exercise challenges the human body to operate as singe unit like the squat. The squat has long been heralded as the “King of Exercises” – and quite rightly so.

In this article we will explain some of the benefits of squatting, as well as guide you through how to use proper squat form.

    Benefits of Squatting
One of the biggest misconceptions about the squat is that it is a leg exercise. The squat is in fact a full body exercise. Every muscle in your body is challenged when you squat. The legs and hips push the weight up, the abs and lower back back tense to stabilise your back, and the arms are used to pin the bar onto the back.

Ive never had sore bicep, triceps, chest or many other muscles from squats...

Yes it is probably one of if not the best exercise you can do. You might want to ask your question in the work out section?

If you take a day off it's up to you obviously. If you are just looking for someone to tell you it's ok, then OK.

I especially like that you are going full ROM with ATG style.
Now that you have that down, lower the weight to 115 lbs. and go free weight.
The smith machine is not a good place to squat. I can see its use hypertrophy use for
upper body or dare I say dead pulls, but now its time to get intro'd to the real deal: free weight squat (ATG).

He said he did NOT use the Smith Machine.
Either way, this thread is pointless.
If you're sore, take some time off. You don't need the approval of strangers.

If you back is hurting your body is trying to tell you something. You need a break until its better without question.

Do I sense some sarcasm? I mean who knows, maybe he weights 120 lbs so it's a lot for him. 3 years ago I was squatting 210 lbs ever time I stood up from the commode.

Dude wtf? Why would you need to ask anyone that... Always listen to your body man, if your too sore to workout than take a day off.

And if its your lower back thats really sore try keeping your back completely straight. The soreness is probably because of the dramatic weight increase.

If your form was correct and your back is hurting.. there's your weak point.. train your back more.. Your legs can push the weight, your back or core can't handle the load...
