You might have gone true a vein and when you take out the pin some blood can squirt out. Happends sometimes.

I do exclusively quad shots and like to go in slow... found that I could feel when I was about to poke thru a vein and can pull out and find a clean spot to go back in.

Of course I found that out after I nailed a vein a few times

After you penetrate the skin and have the needle in you should pull back the plunger a little until you see tiny air bubbles. That gives you the all clear to inject. If you pull back the plunger and get blood in your syringe, this means you are in a vein and SHOULD NOT inject the fluid..

First shot I did in the right side of my ass cheek, that was five years ago, I didnt know shit then, it was a 20 guage inch and a half needle, I stuck it in, I did not bother to pull back the syringe when it was in my ass to see if it was in a vein, I pulled it out to quickly and I swear blood shot out five feet all over the bathroom floor, I was panicked for a week after that, I thought my ass would fall off and I would die, no big deal, just make sure you don't go low and inside and hit the sciatic nerve, it will drop you to your knees.

I also noticed that I could feel when I was about to go through a vein. I just kept going though, didnt think it mattered as long as no blood came out when I asperated. Usually didn't squirt much even when I did hit a vein.
