what is aspirate mean?
when you stick the needle into the muscle, you pull back on the plunger so that you can tell if you hit a blood vessel, etc. If you see any blood come up through the area right after the needle, pull out. Normally, just a few air bubbles come out when you aspirate. So, it is just a safty thing,
Aspirate is a process during injections. Once you insert the needle into the muscle, before injecting the juice, you pull back on the plunger. If you get blood, your in a vein. You need to start over. If you get air bubbles, your in the muscle and can continue with your injection
so you dont stick it in that far? and do i stick it in then pull out so it draws out?
stick the pin in 1" then pull back the plunger.
The pin goes in all the way before aspirating. What would be the point of aspirating with it partially in? After you check it and you push it in further - then you would have to aspirate again... it really is plain ol' common sense... you aspirate right before you administer the shot.Originally posted by tryingtogain

To put it is it's simplest terms for you: You aspirate to make sure you are injecting into muscle tissue. No blood should show when you pull back.
