40 yr old male looking for advice to help get back in shape

40 yr old m 225 lbs, muscle tone low, former triathlete, football player, runner has fallen out of shape. Never used anything except whey protein lol. I'd like some feedback or suggestions to help me build a little but more importantly just tighten back up a little. I know age has a lot to do with it but I'd like to hold on just a bit longer if I can before the lights go out. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hold on ? Brother 40 is the new 30. Atleast. I would suggest getting blood work on your hormones. Im not suggesting thats a problem for you , but if i were your age I would love to know where I stand as far as natural testosterone . My dad went and found out he had natty girl levels of test... got on TRT and half of his medical problems disapeared in months.

lol right. thats what I hear but I dont feel that way xelnaga! I should have my blood work done, but that is expensive without a doctor. I think I need to go see a doctor.

Sure, get your blood work done to see if your Test levels are an obstacle. There are probably independent labs in your area that don't charge a fortune if you pay cash (not insurance). But, you would need the doctor for the scrip anyway, so you might as well see a doc. Look for someone that has TRT experience.

In the mean time, head over to the nutrition section of the site. It has done more for the way I look and feel than anything else. Those guys can get you headed in the right direction. Whatever they tell you will remain true if you get started on TRT as well.

Yeah bro, first things first get blood work to make sure you don't have any underlying issues. When you say high body fat, how high is high? does the belly hang, do you have a "muffin top" lol.. sorry that term is funny. What's your waist size right now?

My suggestion would honestly be to lose the fat. The higher the fat content the higher the chance of side effects. Try to slim down to below 15%, some say that's even a little high. Check out the workout section and the diet section. You need to make sure you got your diet absolutely down before you start. Diet is the most important part of the whole thing. Once you got your bf down and your diet worked out then I would start.

But like Xelnaga said above see a doc about TRT. It's not gonna be a big enough dose for packing on muscle but at least you have a subscription on hand to back you up should any legal issues arise. Having a prescription gives you some peace of mind.

When you got all the above down, start with test enanthate @ 500mg per week, split into two doses of 250mg (mon/thu). Make sure you have PCT on hand before you start! You may wanna go with nolva and clomid for 4 weeks. Start it 2 weeks after your last shot. I would invest in some aromasin and hcg as well for during the cycle. Aromasin in case you start experiencing estrogen sides and HCG to keep your boys working. A lot of people have quick recovery when they use HCG on cycle.

Check out the stickies on this forum too. There's a bunch of useful information about 1st cycles, pct...etc This site comes in really handy man. Take advantage of it.

Yeah, but if he sees the doctor and gets put on TRT, there wouldn't be a point in running a PCT. Besides which, the OP said he's been lifting on and off since high school. Which unless I misunderstood what he was saying means he needs to step it up and for a while before I think cycling would be a good option. Besides if he's low t and gets put on TRT, he'll get some gains.

    Lol....the guy mention he´s 40 and u guys start talking TRT...DAMN!

I´ll go out on a limb here and say, he´s hormone levels will most likely be normal even though the old fart has reached the ripe age of 40...lol

    I feel old...

40somehing, u asked for some advise getting back in shape.
The best place to start would be the Fitness Forum where u can post your diet and workout to get it critiqued.
Why do you say you think you need to see a doc? Am I missing something?
You say you´ve fallen out of shape, if that´s all then no need for a doc.

For sure man... Yeah if youre on trt then pct is not necessary. I was saying to get a prescription more for legal reasons.
