NEWBIE Considering FIRST CYCLE With P90X?
Hey guys -
Complete novice here so any and all guidance or criticism is welcomed. I'm still not positive about all this. Anyway...
I was in my 10th week of P90X, down 33 pounds, and I broke my foot. When I first started I was 235 lbs at 31% body fat (no that is not a typo), and am now at 202 lbs with about 17% body fat. My nutrition is dialed in at about 2,000 calories a day because I'm still trying to burn fat with my caloric intake at 50% protein, 35% good carbs, and 15% good fats. I will be healed up and back to working out in 2 weeks or so and am considering a beginner cycle to take things to the next level. I've searched around and thought I might try one that was provided:
1-12 test e 500mg/week
1-4 dbol 40mg/day (this is used to kickstart the cycle and is optional)
take your test injections 3.5 days apart, like monday morning and thursday evening
split your dbol up throughout the day, this will keep your blood levels stable, which means less sides and more gains
if you take the dbol , supplement with liv52 to help you liver cope with breaking down the dbol
Yes I have read through the diet section and feel decent about what I've been doing compared to what was laid out on the forum. I work nights but here is a typical schedule:
2:30pm Wake Up - Shakeology
3:15pm Workout
4:30pm Iso Mass Xtreme with Flaxseed Oil (post workout)
7:00pm 6 scrambled egg whites with vegetables
9:30pm lean meat with vegetable, fruit or brown/wild rice
1:00am lean meat with vegetable, fruit or brown/wild rice
4:00am lean meat
6:30am Bed
I am 24 and have stopped growing (have a receeding hairline to prove it lol)
6'0"
202 lbs
~17% body fat
Do you guys think a beginner cycle could further excel my progress or would I be wasting money and everything else and should put that off to consider sometime down the road? Thanks in advance for some insight.

Nice change already. The vets on here will tell you to wait until your 25 I would assume. I have never done a cycle before so I will not make a suggestion on that, but you have done well already with the transformation.

Great transformation.. I personally would try to gain a little more muscle naturally to build a better base or foundation and research and gain some more knowledge before jumping into anything.. That's just my opinion but I think you are definitely on the right track..

It's not a good idea to use gear to come back from an injury, it could just make things worse in the long run. I would start the program again without the gear. See where you are and re-evaluate your situation after completing the program.
I'm not sure how long you've been working out, but if P90x is your only experience I can't recommend steroids for you at this time. I will say that your progress is great and you definitely won't be missing out on anything if you keep at it the natural way and don't use steroids for the time being.Last edited by Nooomoto; 11-01-2011 at 11:36 AM.

Great progress so far! I started out over 30% BF as well.
Not sure if you should cycle if you don't have a history of heavy lifting, but I don't know enough about P90X to really give advice on that.
If you do cycle, the one you mentioned is perfect. Make sure you get PCT sorted out and IN HAND before starting your cycle. That way you have it in case something causes you to stop your cycle short...you know, like breaking your foot.

No I haven't researched it thoroughly enough yet. I wanted to get a feel for whether or not cycling is worth it for me at this point.
I was an athlete in highschool and was always in "decent" shape but never where I wanted to be. I fell out of lifting my last 2 years of college and within thel last year really let my health slip away as I lived in a Holiday Inn Express for 5 months straight because the company I work for assigned me to a project out of town. So that time period of not exercising and being forced to eat out every meal with no means of cooking is what led to my beginning photo.
Do you really think cycling could have a negative effect on a previous broken bone if I have no other medical issues or complications?
Could looking into hgh possibly be a better alternative to someone who is as inexpeienced as me beyond protein and creatine?

Not on the bone itself but on your body overall. Your body has been in a resting state for a long time, subjecting it to work loads that are higher than normal because you're using gear is a good way to kill your joints, tendons, ligaments. No go on the hgh for now. Get back into the swing of things, get down to a weight and bf that you are happy at and revisit the idea of a steroid cycle when you are ready to gain some lean muscle and weight.

As far as P90X goes, I've seen a lot of infomercials promising people that fit body to fat people, but it's the only one I've ever seen anybody get any decent success with. It doesn't give you any weight training beyond your own body weight. So I think you should hit the gym and get in to weight lifting. You know don't go for broke, but get in the swing of things for a year or two. Then see where you are.
And by the way, I have a job that until this year, I spent quite a bit of time on the road. You can buy an electric hot plate, a pot and a pan and travel with that.

Good work man! Injuries occur when your body is over stressed. I've done 2 rounds of P90x, one Doubles round, and I noticed the stress on my lower legs and feet was intense. I backed off the Doubles to avoid injury. Sorry for your luck.
I do P90x in the gym on a laptop/portable DVD player at 5:00am so I can use serious weight, 100lb dumbbells, additional weight in pull-ups, etc.
The P90x diet is great to drop body fat, but didn't give me enough calories to put on much mass. I was toned but not huge. I'm 5'10 and I walk around at 195, I got to 180 on P90X, I felt too small.
Now for the good news. I'm on week 3 of Body Beast and I'm seeing gains already. Same company, different trainer. This guy's name is Sagi Kalev and it's all about getting huge. Workouts are harder than P90X but shorter. For anyone who is healthy healthy, give it a try.Last edited by Turkeyjerky; 04-22-2013 at 03:37 PM.
