    Need your help getting started

    Hi all,

I know you've probably seen this type of tread way to many times... so ill try to keep it short.

    I'm a 25 y.o. male - 6'1" - 170lbs - Very low % body fat.

I just finished college while participating in a major sport for the 4 years I was there. I was able to take advantage of the teams nutritionist, giving me good dieting habits to go along with the high level of athletic activity.

During my athletic career, I had to undergo two hip surgerys and one shoulder surgery because of the high level of strain from my sport. I have also never taken any type of drug enhan***ent.

I'm here because I need your help starting a cycle that will help me continue doing what I love - going to the gym and keeping in shape. My energy and endurance has taken a pretty big dive from all the injuries i have had in the past. So I'm looking for a rather small boost to help me keep it up. I would also like to gain 10-20lbs.

    What do you suggest?

And please, I am here because I am seeking a drug enhancing solution. I have been through EVERYTHING else (eating right, resting correctly, physical therapy, the whole ten yards).

    Thanks for the help.
I'd like to become a long-term member of this forum if things go well!

Welcome O_o. Ur stats indicate that ur diet is insufficient for gaining (based on ur weight & height). I recommend u up ur intake. Wut does ur training regime look like? Wut sport do u play?

    Agree with bear,

You need to redesign your diet and start building a foundation, your very light and you can do a lot more with diet alone for someone with your stats. It maybe not what you want to hear but your diet needs to be your main focus. Even if you did go on cycle it will be pointless because you don't have a diet to maintain your gains so you will lose them all.

Check out the diet section and have a read of the stickies, they will help with your goals.
    Best of luck

I have tried everything with my diet. I just can't gain weight. I get stronger, more lean... just no weight. I maxed out at 178 a few years back before the surgerys. I took in more calories in a day than you guys probably do.

But.... because you wont help, lets talk supplements. I have tried all the major protein mixes out there. Right now im trying the Amplified Mass XXX stuff from GNC. 4 drinks a day with my regular meals.
I do not take any oral supplements.

What do you guys suggest? I tried some of my buddies Yok3d supplements and like them a lot. Just reading around the forums, it seems a lot of people use Jack3d. Is that the same stuff?

And finally, what about all these "roid repla***ent" supplements advertised all over these forums. Are they any good?

    Thanks.

O_o check the diet section and start eating more and more. It will help you to learn more about diet and supplements before you start using "repla***ent or real deal". If you took in more calories than us you would be well above 170 at 6'1. We will help but only after you are ready.

Its obvious you miss understand me.

I came here looking for 3 things.

    To gain 10-20lbss.
For more energy in the gym - especially after my injuries.
And possibly something that will help aid my injuries and joints.

I know I have the right diet for the job. I have learned from people who do this for a living. Is it really that hard to believe that I max out at this weight no matter how much I eat? I'm stonger than most people twice my size. I'm not trying to become a body builder.

Now I asked for supplement help, nothing crazy. If you guys cant help me, I can go somewhere else.

Sounds like you have a really fast metabolism. Diet is equally as important as your training and rest, you should check out the diet section in this forum.LMFAO Only beating a dead horse... I would suggest running a test cycle for 12 weeks followed with proper PCT. If you don't know what that is there is a section in here that can assist you with knowledge. Hope this helps.

Bottom line is that if you are going to use AAS then we should help with GOOD advice on how to do it. This dude has already stated that he was somewhat familiar with diet and rest and he is of a good age. So what he is a little slim. Not everyone has the same metabolism, its obvious that his is HIGH. Whats so difficult about helping out a new bro with good help?

The only supplement i recommend is creatine. Back years ago before i started AAS, i used all kinds of supps including andriol, androstene and other pro hormones w/ no avail. I did however have a little luck w/ Heavyweight Gainer 500 or 1000 or something like that. I suggest you check that out. There's a hell of a lot of calories in it.
I know there's a lot of other stuff out there since i stopped using them so others can help you out. you can also post this up in the Supplement Section for further advice if supps are now what your after.

No one here EVER sed they were unwilling 2 help, ur just not what hearing u want 2 hear & claiming that as an unwillingness / inability 2 help..................ur wrong. Fact is, if ur training @ not gaining, then ur diet needs 2 b addressed, no matter how "right for the job" u think it is, if ur not gaining, odds r, it's wrong 4 the job. So.............let's c that diet, wut does ur daily intake look like?

Benefits of GOMAD. GOMAD stands for Gallon Of Milk A Day. GOMAD is a weight gain method that has been going around since years. Some benefits of drinking 1 US gallon (4 liters) of whole milk daily:

Weight Gain. 25lbs weight gain during the 1st month is common on GOMAD. Read the GOMAD success stories, especially Bluestreak's.
Strength Gain. The protein & fat content in whole milk helps muscle & strength gains. The weight gain also helps strength gains.
Easy. Liquid food is easier to get in than solid food and digests faster. Milk also needs zero preparation and is easy to take with you.
Cheap. 1 gallon whole milk contains 2400kcal, 200g carbs, 120g fat, 120g protein and lots of vitamins & minerals for a relative low price.
Natural. Some say that GOMAD works even better than steroids with beginners who want to gain weight fast.
Permanent Gains. GOMAD teaches you to get more calories in, the key to weight gain. You'll never be skinny again.

Why GOMAD Works. GOMAD equals 2400kcal. Eat every 3 hours and you'll get 5000kcals/day. Eating this much will make most "hard gainers" gain weight. But GOMAD is not just about its high calorie intake.

High Protein. You need protein to build muscle & prevent muscle loss. 1 gallon of whole milk contains 120g protein. 20% whey, 80% casein.
Saturated Fat. Increases testosterone levels, which means more muscle & strength. Don't believe the cholesterol myths: saturated fat is healthy.
High Carb. The dextrose in whole milk spikes insulin, a muscle building hormone which tells your body to move the proteins into your muscles.

Is GOMAD Safe? Yes. Or we wouldn't feed babies milk. And even if milk wasn't safe, you won't do GOMAD the rest of your life. Once you got your goal weight - within 1-2 months - it's back to a regular diet.

Cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol doesn't affect blood cholesterol. Your body produces more cholesterol than you can consume.
Kidney Stones. You can find studies showing that a high dietary calcium intake decrease the risk for kidney stones. It doesn't increase it.

Should You Do GOMAD? If you're skinny or under-weight: yes. No matter what your body fat is. You should weigh at least 1kg for each cm above 1m. Anything less you'll always look skinny. Some goal weights depending on your height:

    1m70/5"7" at least 70kg/154lbs
    1m75/5"9" at least 75kg/165lbs
    1m80/5"11" at least 80kg/176lbs
    1m85/6"1" at least 85kg/187lbs
    1m90/6"3" at least 90kg/200lbs

Note that these aren't ideal weights but minima. If you want to weigh more, go for it. Best is to aim for 10lbs/5kg more to make sure. As always: age & gender are irrelevant, GOMAD works for everyone.

If you're skinny + fat: gain weight first, then lose fat. It's easier to lose fat once you've gained weight: you've got more strength, more muscle mass, ... People who want to gain weight without gaining fat usually get nowhere.

Which Milk to Use for GOMAD. Don't waste your time with low fat, skimmed or half-skimmed milk. They're lower in saturated fats & calories and won't give the same results. Go with whole milk, it also tastes better.

Whole Milk. Full fat milk which contains 3-4% fat. Alternative names: full cream milk or homo milk.
3-4% fat. Check the nutrient data on the whole milk you buy. It should contain 3-4g fat, 3g protein & 5g carbs per 100ml.
2400 Calories. Whole milk contains 60kcals per 100ml. This accounts for 2400kcals when you drink 1 gallon whole milk.

Pasteurized, UHT or raw? These processing methods don't matter as long as you're drinking whole milk. If you're lactose intolerant: take lactase pills. They're as efficient as lactaid milk, but cheaper.

How to Do GOMAD. GOMAD won't work if you drink 1 gallon of milk 3 days out of 7, skip workouts and neglect eating. Be consistent!

1 US Gallon Milk Daily. Equals 4 liters. Spread your intake. Example: 1/4 at breakfast, 1/4 at lunch, 1/4 post workout, 1/4 at dinner.
Eat Every 3 Hours. Eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, pre-bed and post workout. Milk as snack is ok. Don't be hungry: eat your stomach full.
Squat. Lifting weights gives your body the stimulus to build muscle. Squat a lot. Check StrongLifts 5x5 if you don't know where to start.
Track Progress. Take pictures front/back/side, track body fat using a fat caliper and weigh yourself every 2 weeks. Keep a training log.
Use Fitday. Unless you're very active, you'll need about 5000kcals/day to gain weight. You'll get this doing GOMAD + eating every 3 hours.

Do GOMAD until you got your goal weight. Best is to aim for 10lbs/5kg extra just to make sure. If you're consistent you won't need to do GOMAD more than 1-2 months to get your goal weight.

How to Make GOMAD Easier. If you're 110lbs/55kg GOMAD will be hard at first. You might feel bloated. Solution is similar to StrongLifts 5x5: start light and add milk progressively.

Week 1: eat every 3 hours, apply the 8 nutrition rules.
Week 2: eat every 3 hours + ¼ gallon whole milk a day
Week 3: eat every 3 hours + ½ gallon whole milk a day
Week 4: eat every 3 hours + ¾ gallon whole milk a day
Week 5: eat every 3 hours + 1 gallon whole milk a day

This gives your body time to adapt. Drawback: weight gain is slower since it takes 4 weeks before you're drinking 1 gallon of whole milk daily.

Example GOMAD Meal Plan. Spread your milk intake through the day. If you have milk with meals: eat first, drink the milk after. Eat your stomach full on each meal and make sure you eat every 3 hours.

Breakfast: eggs, veggies, orange, green tea.
Snack: 1 liter milk, mixed nuts, banana
Lunch: chicken breast, mixed veggies, peer
Snack: 1 liter milk, mixed nuts, apple
Post workout: 1 liter milk, oats, banana
Dinner: ground round, pasta, tomato sauce, Parmesan cheese
Pre bed: 1 liter milk, berries, ground flax seeds, cottage cheese

Room temperature milk isn't tasty. Buy thermoses, fill them with cold water for 5mins, then drain them and fill them with milk. Milk is 87% water so you won't need to drink that much water on top of your daily gallon of whole milk.

BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i didnt wanna over run his thread because it would be rude, sorry O_0

Copy and paste from google for you:

This one has been gnawing at the back of my hand for quite some time, but I let it go because I thought it was plainly obvious why GOMAD is a terrible idea, obviously this isn't the case. So I will explain what the GOMAD is and why it is terrible, in the same sort of format they use on the stronglifts site to promote it.

    What is GOMAD?

GOMAD is the acronym for "Gallon Of Milk A Day" diet. The idea is to consume a gallon of milk per day, ON TOP of what you would eat to reach maintenance, adding around 2500 calories to w/e your daily diet is, usually coming out at around 4000, 5000 calories for most people.

    Benefits of GOMAD diet

"Weight Gain. 25lbs weight gain during the 1st month is common on GOMAD." - This is true. 25lbs of fat and water retention that is.
"Strength Gain. The protein & fat content in whole milk helps muscle & strength gains. The weight gain also helps strength gains." - What? Caloric surplus combined with a solid strength program will produce strength gains?? Holy shit someone notify the press. This is a ****ing no brainer.
"Easy. Liquid food is easier to get in than solid food and digests faster. Milk also needs zero preparation and is easy to take with you." - This is a fair point.

"Cheap. 1 gallon whole milk contains 2400kcal, 200g carbs, 120g fat, 120g protein and lots of vitamins & minerals for a relative low price." - Also fair point.

"Natural. Some say that GOMAD works even better than steroids with beginners who want to gain weight fast." - This is gigantic load of SHIT. Nobody who actually knows what the **** they are talking about would even dare contend that milk produces faster muscular gains than AAS. The mere fact that they are even trying to compare milk to something that changes your ****ing HORMONES and chemistry is ridiculous.

"Permanent Gains. GOMAD teaches you to get more calories in, the key to weight gain. You'll never be skinny again." - Yeah but you'll also look like a sack of shit.

So why is GOMAD ****ing retarded?

You cannot force feed your body into packing on more muscle. Contrary to the popular /fit/ notion, a larger caloric surplus does not necessarily mean more muscle. Creating muscle and laying new neural pathways is a metabolically taxing process that takes time. That's why trying to rush a bulk is retarded and will only end with you getting fat. I don't give a **** what these retards say, you cannot, CANNOT gain 25lbs of muscle in a month without anabolic steroids, and even then, good luck.

Hell they even state right there that your bodyfat % will increase 3-4% per month. THIS IS NOT ****ING HEALTHY AT ALL.

Consuming that much milk on such a consistent basis could wind up making you lactose intolerant, unless of course you have access to raw milk (good luck) which has enzymes (lactase) that are destroyed in the heat treating process. Then there are several other problems from this much milk consumption. Many people doing GOMAD will comment on the bacne/acne problems that arise, these ****ing idiots claim it is from increased testosterone levels. Sorry but that is ****ing dumb and more broscience shit. Go get some blood work done one week, and then do GOMAD for 2 weeks and get retested, I guarantee your testosterone levels will not have increased by any notable amount. The acne is from the huge milk consumption and rapidly increasing bodyfat storage.

Guys end up heavier, for sure. But this isn't quality weight. Majority of your gains from GOMAD, unless you had some ****ing amazing genetics and a shitton of AAS, would be fat and water retention. The assumption is that you do GOMAD and then "just cut bro, you will be better off for it". But let's do a little experiment:

Do GOMAD for two month -> gain up to MAYBE 4lbs of dry muscle, gain 3-4% bodyfat -> spend next 2-4 months cutting depending on how committed and driven you can be

Just do a regular sensible bulk for two months -> gain up to 4lbs of dry muscle, gain no significant amount of bodyfat/maybe even get leaner -> spend next 2-4 months getting bigger and possibly leaner

I think it's ****ing obvious which choice produces more sensible results.

The only time I would EVER recommend someone does GOMAD is if they are someone with a huge energy turnover, i.e like a professional athlete who is in the gym for like 8 hours a day, that would actually justify a caloric surplus of 2500 cals.

As a conclusion, I feel I need to state I'm not opposed to teaching skinny mother****ers that they need to eat a lot to get bigger. However GOMAD is excessive and retarded, fin.

The cholesterol content of three glasses of milk is equal to what one would get from 53 slices of bacon. 49% of the calories in whole milk are from fat.
Too much vitamin D (10,000 IU) can cause nausea, vomiting, poor appetite, constipation, weakness, bone pain and weight loss. Too much vitamin D can also cause kidney stones or calcification of soft tissue. It can also raise blood levels of calcium. High blood levels of calcium causes confusion and heart rhythm abnormalities.

Regardless of all this milk shit, the OP just needs to eat more and do less cardio.

No matter how fast your metabolism, if you take in more cals than you expend you will gain weight.
