Power lifting moves and mid section size

I already have a waist that I feel should be a little smaller (no fat but just wide structure) for bodybuilding proportions. I have heard that power lifting moves - real heavy Squats , real heavy dead lifts etc can make your waist bigger. Is that true, what is your experience ?
Bigger in the sense that it puts on muscle that makes it look bigger.

I competed in power lifting throughout highschool, and then started competing in bodybuilding. My waist is tiny when I diet down. I believe waist size is mostly genetic.

there are a variety of factors besides good genes. as one ages, there is a tendency for internal organs to grow a bit. additionally, as your ab muscles grow, they will obviously increase in size. for me, and many others, to a certain extent, waist size only goes one way over time.

....once you get past belly fat, and get your bf% down.

ten years ago, at 250, no problems with a 36" waist. now, at around 225, i'm struggling at getting to the same waist, (36 is still kinda tight) i'm guessing bf% was the same then as now
