I would think sterility would be an issue.

ive done this on a few occasions...i pre-load the pins and put them in a ziplock bag...never had any sterility issues cus i still use all the same sanitary protocol for loading the pins and for the injections...

But surely once the pins an the barrels are out of the sterile wrapper then it's not sterile anymore?

Preloading carries no problems or contamination issues, as long you keep the needle capped and untouched.

This is a popular misconception. Limited exposure to air (the time it takes to load and shoot) does not significantly contaminant gear or pins. A preload takes essentially the same amount of time it takes to load and shoot, it's just separated by more time (that between the two actions).

agreed. and have a way to protect the plunger so that leakage is at a minimum.

that is no more sterile then a bag or a plastic container.
The needle is capped. You will be fine.
When he says protect the plunger. He means makes sure it can't get pushed in when you pack it so you dont loose some gear

Ah right when he said protect the plunger I thought he meant something else because I hear there could be something in oil based compounds to corrode the rubber seals? So we are talking Tupperware box fresh needles capped and maybe some bubble wrap in the box

If you don't have a nice case to keep the plunger from moving, here is what you do:

get some stiff paper (like a business card) and cut it to roughly fit between the plunger handle and grip (better too big than too small). Now just wrap it around the plastic plunger shaft and tape it closed.
