Finding tha right Testosterone therapy will make you feel on top of the world again and depression will be a thing of the past. Weather androgel is the right therapy for you or not is another question but guess you will be finding that out soon.

It depends on how well your skin absorbs it. Just make sure you don't get that stuff on your girlfriend or kids accidently. A little accidental exposure probably wont matter though.


Don't be worried, if it doesn't work well, there are other options for treatment.

I found when I started hrt (even though i was not that far below norm) I felt ALOT less depression and A LOT less anxiety ( i have had issues from time to time)
could be a god send for you, or you might notice just a bit of an overall mood lift. ether way I STRONGLY rec HRT to ANYONE with lower end levels or below norm levels.

I never used the gel though.
I would push for the shots. 100-200mg every week (more likely 100mg every week. but DON'T let him push it more then every 2 weeks per shot, some docs do this and it just causes more fluctuation in hormones and side effects are usually felt more.
is you need an argument for him for the shots over gel:

*you worry about skin transfer to wife and family, mainly wife/gf due to you guys sleep tightly nite together usually.
*that you seem to sweat slot at times
*you have done lots of research and seems others on hrt prefer the shots also.
* you dont want the hassle of the applications daily
* Its your right to pick a treatment you feel is better for you with your doctor.

##Save the last one for only if needed if he is giving you a ahrd time, if you say that right off the bat he might just get mad at the statment.

Thank's Honky, was actually very lucky to have found a doctor here in Ireland who's an advocate for trt.
Here's what he said about blood tests

Testosterone levels, free or combined, will not get us much further along the road. If fact, I no longer do these tests because they are expensive and notoriously unreliable.

I don't know if that's such a great idea. I'd get a second opinion before I commit to it. You also might want to ask that doctor about checking the levels via the dialysis method.

Besides isn't medical care and the treatment/tests free in Ireland?

If low testosterone is the reason you are feeling down, the gel should make you feel a lot better in just a couple of weeks....maybe less time even. It works pretty quickly if you are able to absorb it into your skin. Some guys don't absorb well. If that ends up being the case, injections may be better. The gel is an easy way to start down the TRT road and see where that leads.

Don't "sweat" the gel transfer issues too much. Unless you are deliberately dosing your wife/girlfriend, there is unlikely to be much effect from casual contact. I'd worry about young kids more than the significant other on the transfer issue.

I would prefer the shots but the specialist is about 4 hours away, if the gel doesn't work out I'm sure I could get them administered by a local doctor here.

3 days in, could well be placebo but my heads alot clearer, feel alot better at times, music sounds great and gets me excited again and without a doubt after a 10 year absence there are definate signs of sexual interest might even get laid someday

I am in the process of getting prescribed trt too. I think i might be getting the nebido shots which are only one shot every 10 to 12 weeks!

Good to see some one else in the same boat here, i was finding it hard to get any help from my GP but i am seeing an endo in beaumont who seems to be spot on!

Nice1 Relax hope it all works out well for ya, I tried my gp first no luck, then an endo in here in Sligo still no luck, Then found a gp in kildare who's a firm believer in TRT, would prefer to be on shots but too just gunna stick with this for now and hopefully say good bye to depression

I don't know if it was just in my head or just me, but initially i felt much higher t levels than the second week. And my thinking is it is because the dose was low and added to my natural t felt pretty good, but when natural shut down dosage wasn't enough. So don't get discouraged if you don't feel as good at another point in time, dosages can be adjusted as you level out if needed. I also hope this does the trick for you, as taking other routes usually don't fix the problem.

Cheers guys, really wish I had just done this when I was 19 when I 1st started having these problems, went to a sex therapist plus a Gp back then, they never mentioned anything about hormones and I didn't know until recently, just wonder where I might be today if I was fixed alot sooner, its like I actually care again and look back on just how bad these past ten years have been, Iv done nothing but rot in misery, all I can say is **** my gp and all the psychiatrists Iv seen over the years.

that makes sense bro...sounds familiar...and i do remember retesting and being below where i started even though i had felt better

You will feel it more quickly with the gel than we do when injecting a long ester like Cyp.

I had more energy, fat loss, muscle gain and higher libido. It took four weeks on Cyp, but I have a family member on the cream that is feeling it after a week. My understanding is that the creams do not have an ester. They can do that because you apply it every day.

A lot of guys get the immediate placebo effect. Give it a week or two and you will know exactly what is going on.

Most of us self inject. No way I am driving to the doctor's office twice a week.

He is new to this and is asking us if self injection is possible. He hasn't talked to his doctor about doing it himself yet and I think he wants to know if it is common before asking his doc to be able to do it.

You are asking the right man about self-inject! I tried this four times and it was a disaster. You have to use an 18 gauge needle and stick it deep into your gluteus maximus !! Not for the fainthearted I can tell you! It was such a relief to switch to the gel!

He either has no knowledge of this subject, or he's just saying it to scare you because he wants you use the Gel for some reason.

No not everyone. Some of us who are REAL men us 18g after dulling it first. LOL
I have been known to even use a 27g. SWEET... just takes longer to inject. I wouldn't try drawing with it.

The inner thigh and behind the knees & calf's is common due to less body fat and closer to the main arteries. On the genitals/ball is ???? Ive head it can also cause problems. I would stick to inner thigh and calfs.
