    Does body type matter?

I have been lifting off and on since 2005(actually started in Jr high but I was not serious about it till I turned 18 and I knew nothing of nutrition except the big boys at the gym used to say eat a lot) and I have read much on nutrition and body types. If you follow the guidelines I am a hybrid, mesomorph/endomorph, i.e. wide shoulders and wide and high hips. I can gain fat weight like its cool and I can not build muscle for nothing. Just a little bit of history on me, I was an active duty Marine and I was attached to a grunt unit but not a grunt by trade. My platoon trained hard all the time and I had very minimal gains in strength and the only time I lost weight it was a combo of fat and muscle(more muscle than fat) and that was in boot camp, I went from 197 to 162. I do not get hungry but once or twice a day, same with water. Does anyone else fall into this category and have had the same experience as me? How often do you eat/drink water and what do you eat? Minimum amount of sleep you get? How much has cycling helped you and is it worth my time to try and see if I can turn the corner by cycling up a time or two? Any advice or a certain post or thread I should read would be awesome as well. Thanks for reading my post!

I think your problems are habitual more than they are related to body type. The guys in the nutrition forum can help out considerably. The biggest benefit might come from developing new habits: eating several (5-7) planned meals a day, drinking lot of water, lifting right and getting enough rest. In the beginning, gaining strength and size will come with diet and proper lifting.

The cycling is something that only works well if you have the diet and lifting sorted out.
