Cancer Question.
I've been debating with myself back and forth for months now about doing my first cycle.
I'm 25, been lifting for 3 years (but only seriously training and dieting for about half that), and thinking about test and deca .
My father had prostate cancer. His brother had testicular cancer. So clearly I have some pre-existing genealogical risk factors.
Can somebody help school me about why I should or shouldn't be concerned about this?
Every time I try searching, I get a whole bunch of questionable studies, rumors, hypothetical situations, etc.

Actually, you can find some very detailed information on this subject by the great Dr. Scally. In an interview conducted in August of last year, he directly addresses your question. The interview can be found here...

To be candid, Dr.Scally has a very direct conflict of interest. While he is educated on the topic, he also stands to make a profit from promoting one side of the argument.
The articles he references (but doesn't actually list as sources..) are all written by one guy - Abraham Morgentaler MD. Whom I also have the same issue with, since he runs one of the most popular HRT clinics in Boston.
From what I can access - it seems like a lot of the "studies" he has performed are very low sample sizes, done over a short period of time, with inconclusive results "disproving" existing beliefs.
I DO appreciate the help, and I do very much want to have any link between cancer/TRT disproved. I am just finding it almost impossible to find impartial sources of information.
I tried asking my primary care physician - and he immediately dropped me as a patient. Is that normal? Are AAS really that taboo of a topic?
If I was to do a cycle, I would want to have my bloodwork done before, during, and after. Do I have to be more discrete about this, or did I just have a prick of a PCP?

I looked into more Dr. Morgentaler's research. Looks like he does have some compelling information dispelling increased risk of prostate cancer via hormone supplementation.
His main office happens to be about 15-20 minutes from me. I'm going to try to get an appointment with him.
When I get to 25 posts, I'll put up some links to some of the stuff I've come across.

the links, or lack thereof, between trt and prostate/testicular cancer will be different from the risk of cancer developing due to an AAS cycle.
in trt cases, all the patients have low test, and the treatment is to return the levels to normal, physiological levels. although the test levels are indeed raised, it is from low, back to normal.
but for AAS cycle, someone is starting with normal test level, and increasing that to 5x or even 10x the normal levels. i think this is a crucial difference and thus the results of one group should not be used to deduce the risk of the other group.
however, since most cycles are reasonably short, 8-12wks, compared to trt, which is for life... i think the risk of developing a new cancer during this time is small. this is provided someone do not already have an underlying tumor to start with.
so in your case, maybe if you can get an ultrasound of your prostate and testis, and check Prostate Specific Antigen levels to make sure you dont having something hidden. that would be safer before you start your cycle

Consider at what age your father was diagnosed with prostate cancer was he 45 or 80.
