Testing your knowledge, steroids under pressure...

ok guys wondering about the adverse affects of taking steroids while diving. I know for a fact that they are of no issue down to 50m on air but im more wondering about longer dives or deeper depths and varyign gases. Things like diving on nitrox with an increase PP o2, Diving to depths of 100-300meters on tri-mix. Are the affects multiplied at depth as thye are with many other medication, how would this affect dives over 100m for 10-30 days straight?

Any info on any of this would be greatly appreciated.

The only info that I can locate is that there could be a possible increase in O2 toxicity (in animals)

So long as they aren't affecting your vitals and overall health, I see no possible issue. Then again, I don't know much about diving.

I dive and seem to have no problems. What are you doing at depths of 300'?? and what is the deal with a 300 meter dive?

hahahahaha at first I though it said while Driving. I was thinking what are you doing, injecting while driving down the hwy? LOL

I dive also. I dont remember anything in regards to TRT only drinking/alcohol and some prescription drugs. I personally dont see how it could have an effect but it's good to research it more.

I have no problems currently diving to 50m on air but I do know that the vast majority of drugs affect the body differently under pressure and I wont just be swimming around ill be working my arse off down there. So that being said I know air dives to 50m are fine but im wondering about dives down to 300m and it would only be orals (most likely being var) due to infection and discreetness. It would be to maintain body mass while living at this depth for 1 to 4 weeks, ive worked too hard over the last 3 years to just go in there and drop 5kg a week and end up where I started.

The only risk I have found refered to animal with an increassed risk of O2 toxicity and I would be at a very high PPO2

I would inquire a dive master or on a dive forum. I would not say it's recreational or for BB, I would suggest it's TRT purposes.

Yeah unfortunately 99% of dive masters would know about this type of diving, I might track down and pick the brains of some top level hyperbaric doctors. Thought id give this a shot first so if anyone reads it and actually knows feel free to inform me.
