Gyno Surgery malpractice. Need help and comments.
Hello people,
It's been quite a while since I commented or posted on any threads here but I was hoping you fellas would offer your advice and suggestions on a serious problem I am having.
As you all know, gynecomastia surgery is extremely expensive. I'd been living in the UK a few years and someone suggested doing an overseas search for cheaper options. My gyno is hereditary and somewhat mild, but nonetheless it has been a long term desire to have it removed. I found a clinic in Poland with low prices and a decent contact. Their website says it provides gynecomastia removal. I exchanged photos and made it extremely clear what I wanted done. I flew out here and had the in person consultation, at which the quoted price rose by nearly 50%. I was already here and anxious so I agreed, just as long as I could [I]finally[I] get this f*cking gyno out of me. I went into surgery, spent the night, and have been recovering in a hotel room since (which is 4 days ago now). The swelling has gone down enough for me to inspect what was done. They liposuctioned my chest and completely left in the glands. I am utterly devastated, and furious. They took a big chunk of my savings and didn't deliver. What in the almighty hell can I do? I want to go down there and raise hell, ask for my money back, just do something . Please fellas, give me your thoughts and advice. My plane leaves today at 2, so I don't have much time to do anything, so I need to be quick (call lawyer, meet with clinic in morning to discuss this, etc) I am feeling like trashing this hotel room in a futile rage attack.

get an attorney right a way. Best advice.
have you confronted them about it specifically and what did they say?

I've not discussed it with them yet. Tonight was the first time i was able to probe around without the interference of pain. Before they told me it was just swelling and I couldn't feel it hard enough without yelping pain to realize it was still glandular.

About the attorney, I am not really sure how to prosecute a situation like this. I am a U.S. citizen living in the UK and I got the surgery in Poland.

Thanks man, I am looking into it. Tremendous anxiety over this mess. Don't let it happen to you.
I am going down there early this morning to acquire copies of all documentation, then I am going to request a discussion with the dr and their translator. I guess I'll explain the situation and see how they respond. I hope they are sympathetic and friendly, though I don't suspect this will be the case. If this is resolved to my satisfaction I'll be hugely surprised. If not I will do my damnedest to smear them and provide tons of negative feedback from multiple angles.

was there any difficulty in communications during the first consultation? was there a need for an interpreter at that time? were you examined by the surgeon involved in the surgery?
i dont think liposuction is an easier/cheaper/faster procedure to do, compared to excision of gynaecomastia. maybe they didnt intentionally perform the wrong procedure. which means the likelihood of them wanting to correct the mistake should be high, so you need not get too worked-up. for all you know, they may be extremely embarrassed and apologetic when you go confront them.
but you will really have to ensure they understand your request completely. point specifically at the gyno lump so they know what to cut..
if they are keen to perform a repeat surgery, then you can skip the lawyer, hopefully.
good luck

I just returned from the clinic... They were... accomodating?? The surgeon, through an interpreter, instructed me that they had to leave a small piece of gland on the left side, otherwise it would have 'looked like a hole', and that small piece is very swollen (about the size of a golf ball). They promised that it will subside and not be noticeable. Furthermore, they said that in 2 months if I am still unhappy (and if the doctor agrees it is reasonable to remove it) that they will remove it for free.
This makes me feel better, sure, but not completely. I sure as hell don't want to have to come back here, but I am pleased that it looks like an option if this doesn't pan out. I really appreciate the support guys. I will be sure to return here and post the outcome of this situation. For all I know they could be planning on switching locations in 6 weeks. On the upside, I received all the proper legal documents, just in case I need to hire a lawyer. Will post more later.
