    steroids and calisthenics ONLY

Just had a question what would happen if someone was to use steroids like winstrol, turinabol, anavar etc and they couldn't get to a gym so they could only do squats, push ups, dips, chins etc would they put on considerable size? Bevause looking at gymnasts, especially the males they are muscular have huge biceps and lats yet they don't do weighted chins or anything they just use calisthenics, cheers in advance

Do it, your gains will mostly be in the areas your work and it's all about what you want and how you want to look. I say mostly because I've seen people actually stop going to the gym when they started cycling and still had gains lol

    Just my opinion.

Cheers mate, an I'm not trying it just wanted to see what people thought or if anyone had experiences with it, because you see people like gymnasts who are ripped and quite muscular yet they hardly ever lift weights so it makes you wonder, because I doubt they are all 'natural' lol. Anymore for anymore?

What makes you think that gymnasts don't do regular weight training?
Nearly ALL high level athletes lift weights. You just don't see them doing it.

Gymnasts in particular I mentioned and the reason gymnasts don't do weights is because it would make them grow adding more weight making movements such as the iron cross etc even harder, then they would have to build their strength up more, so they must use some sort of help via steroids to help put on lean mass and muscular strength

Why not put 106 octane gas in your car and only use it to drive around the block at normal speed? Because it's a waste of $$$

Agree with Bonaparte, just because you dont see them doing it doesnt mean they dont. Basket ball players do, swimmers do, they all do some type of weight training.

Weight training like the other guys said is used for a lot of other sports. And doing aas w/o training isnt smart. And telling someone to do it is just plain STUPID!

Elite level gymnasts never touch a weight in their life. The reason why they are so muscular is they spend about 8 hours a day 6 days a week from the age of about 10 training with the rings/horse etc. Add to this the fact that they are usually between 5ft 3 and 5ft 8, have great genetics and possible anabolics. Doing the iron cross in particular puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the biceps. Also have you noticed, their back and chest muscles are under developed compared to their arms and shoulders?

Basically if you just do bodyweight exercises and steroids you will increase your strength to weight ratio of course. Unless you intend to spend all day doing these exercises for a considerable length of time, then it won't be good for muscle mass.

they must be using anabolics then because put simply if your training at 100% for like 1 hour 30mins then your cortisol levels rise making your body catabolic they wouldnt be able to put mass on training for that long each day without help or taking in a huge caloric surplus (which they wont be because olympic athletes are on strict diets)

My best friend and his wife both went to college on gymnastic scholarships. Neither did roids and both look stacked. I wouldn't call holding a Maltese Cross for 10 seconds doing calisthenics. Being pushed super hard from a young age by a crazy coach has dramatic effects. Both of them were well on their way to being crippled by age 30, every joint in body pretty shot. Weighted chins, dips etc. can be very effective too. Calisthenics is just the filler between workouts for me.

This thread is from 2012, quit bumping old threads. This wouldn't be a good idea. You have never used AAS, but claim to be knowledgeable.
