    quads pin size?

hi guys, im sick of pinning my shoulders, they feel corked for a good day or 2.
anyway i want to switch to my quads because i do it by myself and it would be much easier, what i was wondering is if a 1 inch would be to short, or should i use 1 1/4 inch needle?
ive searched and got mixed answers, i just want to know if a 1 inch is to small or will it be fine, thanks

I use a 23ga 1 1/2" for glutes and quads. I bury the whole needle when I inject. Some guys use a smaller gauge but 23 is ok for me.

I use 1 inch 25g needles for everything. 1.5 inch 23's would be excessive IMO....

i dont have the balls to use a 1.5 inch lol. so you reckon 1 inch 25g would be fine in the quads? ive got a box of each, would rather use the 1 inch if i can get away with it

Unless you have thighs like Pearl Bailey you'll be fine...

1.5 inch is long for quads. I go with 23 gauge 1 inch. Smooth injection, pin my quads twice a week with no problems

I used 1" 25ga. for quads. Worked fine for me. Unless your quads are huge...I can't imagine the benefit of an extra 1/2" of needle. One inch should be getting into the muscle fine. What you don't want to do is hit bone with the needle.

I use 23g 1" and have no issues at all. Unless you had massive quads then more than an inch is excessive

I use 1' 25 gauge for everywhere. Works just fine as long as you are all the way through the fat layer.

I'm a puss when it comes to quads. 1 in 23ga everywhere but there. I backload a slin pin for quads. Least favorite spot.

Me too i tried 25 g and it takes 3 times longer to inject, 23g makes it easy and painless i only burry about 1" in .

How often do you hit a nerve when sticking in the quad? I just told a good friend that is a Physicians Assistant that I am going to rotate glutes and quads and he told me not to do the quads due to the abundance of nerves. I want ot rotate but pretty nervous now!!

When you jab your outer quad between one hand length from the hip and one hand length from the knee you shouldn't be hitting a nerver that often. Maybe one out of five times. Practice makes perfect.

So, what happens when you shred that nerve?

You don't "shred" the nerve. If you jab in slowly and you feel a pinch or sting all of a sudden you are impinging on a nerve. Pull out and move the needle a quarter of an inch and try again.

I concur w/ 1 inch 23's for quads (+ delts). 1.5 may be too much for quads.. Stick w/ 1 inch.
