48yr old male (don't laugh) w/first cycle questions
Hi everyone. Please let me explain a little about my situation and goals. First, I really do not want to add much size or weight from my first cycle, that is why I am concerned about adding in some test with the deca that I already have. I received the deca 2 days ago with the intention of a deca only cycle, but after further research, it seems a deca only cycly could be counter intuitive to my goals. I am 48 yrs old and I am 5'8" tall, 175lbs with about 12% body fat. I am already pretty muscular (been body building and power lifting on and off since about age 13 with good genetics. When I settled on deca, I was more interested in a cycle that will help with pain in my joints (mainly shoulders and elbows), boost my metabolism to cut some fat, increase my libido and boost energy. I guess for an older guy like me, I would call it a hormone replacement therapy cycle since an over 40 male begins to produce less and less male hormone. LoL! Can anyone please recommend a proper cycle for me with those goals in mind, as I am a complete rookie regarding steroids . This will be my first cycle, so I would like to do a cycle that helps attain these goals with minimal side effects, such as hair loss, acne, etc. Thank you so much for all of your help, I truly appreciate your knowledge and advice.

Deca alone is a terrible cycle, especially at your age. yes it will assist in joint lubrication but it will completely shut you down extremely hard creating a lack of libido, lethargy, and so on.
Have you had any bloodwork done recently to evaluate your current level?

First cycle test only. If there is an adverse effect you know what it's from.

I think you should consider HGH instead. I know alot of my friends fathers have taken it and it made them into sex craved hulk like hugh hefneresque pimps. It works, but is very expensive and you have to be on it for a long time. There are no side effects that Im aware of, except an increase in energy, libido, brainpower, etc.

I'm 51, started when I was 41...
I've run many things, what id suggest as always is a physical, prostrate for sure before doing a GH or test cycle.. deca ?? with test would do good for ya.. or test/var might get you the results you need..
but for a 1st cycle you want to do test.. Have you gotten a blood panel done measuring current test levels?? if not do that 1st so you will know if you are getting the results you need/expect..
GH and test are like fertilizer for prostrate cancers, epecially as we get older..The answer to your every question

Visit the TRT forum and look at the Finding a Physician Sticky for suggested blood work. Definitly start there so you have good baselines. Many there do what they call "mini-blasts" similar to what your basically talking about. Welcome to the forums!

For a first cycle running Test is the norm and smartest thing to do since your body is virgin to steroids . Even at doses of 250mg/week will do wonders for a first cycle. But as you said your goals are a little different and geared towards joint mobility. Test by itself will be geared towards your other goals tho.
As far as a deca -only cycle, It is not advised because deca, being a progestin, will shut down ur natural testosterone production. Since deca is a 19 nor compound ur body is basically depleted of testosterone because you are not making any more of it nor have any included in the cycle. This will cause your libido to fall and "temporary" impotence, hence the normal inclusion of testosterone with deca. ("temporary" lasting as long as the cycle and maybe longer if your testosterone production does not recover or recovery is delayed).

I'm kinda in the same place. 48-training for many years. I was at my peak at 40 using deca and test combo woking out like a bitch and eatting right. At that time I was also a trainer (AFAA and ACE) people come up to me often and I dont want to lead them astray. Now after cancer and at the age of 48 back to great health I am on HGH and test, seeing good results but I sure somethings can be tweaked. I have complete current as of 9/7/12 blood labs. If you can help out what do you need to know cuz there is a lot of info here? I would really appreciate some help.

Just start a thread Bachi and post your BW with ranges. Highlight abnormalities. If the Test and HGH are TRT related then post in the TRT forum. If not, post up here.

As all have stated blood work first to establish a baseline then go from there. Never to old to enjoy life!!
