    Thinking ahead for first cycle

    Hey everyone,

    In a little under 7 weeks I'll be turning 24! Ive been thinking about cycling for about 2 years now. Its probably going to be early 2013 before I actually cycle. I'm 6' 230lbs. I haven't measured body fat in a while, but I think I can safely say I'm at 15% or a little under. I actually plan on taking it down to the 10-12 range when I cycle. Anyways, I've been trying to make up my mind between enth and prop. I think I'm leaning more towards e. I'll purchase my pct from ar-r. Im also planning on having an AI on hand through the cycle. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on first cycles, I'd love to hear them. Also if yall want to throw some reasons why you prefer enth or prop, I'd love to hear those as well.

    I prefer prop, and here are my main reasons:

    - Prop is in and out of your body in about 4 days. Its half life is 2 days. This means if you need to lower your dose or completely stop your cycle for whatever reason, you don't need to wait very long. Compare this with long esters such as enanthate, and you're going to have to wait 2 weeks for everything to clear from your system.

    - The short half life allows peak blood levels to be achieved quicker, allowing the AAS to 'kick in' far sooner. I have found prop kicks in for me around the mid to late 2nd week. Compare this with enanthate, where I found the kick in period to be around the 4th week!

    - Shorter half life = shorter cycles, and PCT can also begin far sooner (4 days after last shot with prop vs 2 weeks after last shot with enanthate).

    Now with all of that said, yes, prop requires more frequent pinning. I personally don't mind this (in fact, I love it as sick as that might sound lol). My very first cycle, however, was enanthate. My second ever cycle was propionate. And I have never gone back to enanthate EVER since then. That was 5 years ago. Enanthate does have its advantages over prop, but they are literally all convenience advantages (i.e. less frequent pinning and such).

    The only other piece of advice for first-cycles i'd like to give is something I recently mentioned in another thread here. I've been saying this for years as well: use the lowest dose possible for your first few cycles! I'll copy and paste what I just posted in the other thread: My very first test cycle was 300mg per week of test enanthate. Compare that to most people's first-time cycles at 500mg per week. I made excellent gains! The lowest possible dose you can use to obtain gains, the better it is for you (and your wallet). You really don't need 500mg per week on a first cycle (or even your first several cycles) to see results, especially if it's a first cycle and your body is fresh to supraphysiological levels of AAS. Your diet will be what predominantly determines your results, not the amount of gear you use. Take for example 300mg of Test E a week. When blood levels are stable, that dose releases about 47-50mg into the bloodstream per day. The human body naturally produces on average 11mg per day. That's a huge-ass whopping difference. Our bodies produce rediculously low levels naturally compared to what we typically cycle with. Approx 50-70mg per week naturally. So, your choice of 200mg per week should be great for your goals.

    Prop definitely sounds awesome. I don't think I will mind the frequent pinning. Needles haven't ever bothered me. So with prop, would an 8 week cycle be ideal, or 10 week?

    8 weeks is good. I am a big advocate of short cycles of 8 weeks. Get on, make your gains quick, get off. It is much easier for the body to recover, and much easier to hold on to gains after a short cycle instead of a long one. Something you can do is plan it for 8 weeks. By the 8th week, assess yourself to see if you are still making consistent gains. If you are, then you can extend it to 10 weeks and end the cycle at 10 weeks. If you find gains are slowing down by week 8, then just cut it at 8 weeks and begin PCT. This is what I used to do. These days, I just run everything for 8 weeks and that's about it.

    Honestly, some guys are on cycle and cant hit the numbers you're at--6' 230 and fairly lean is real good. With a correct diet you will be able to maintain weight and

    lose a couple % in B/F. Head over to the nutrition section.

    -With your current natural gains, hold off on the gear for a year or two. Reaching your full potential before cycling will only mean a better end result.

    SK1, I could definitely work on my nutrition at this point. I haven't been eating the cleanest lately. I feel like it's balanced with some good clean meals as well. I do like to frequent the nutrition section and pick up stuff that would help me out. Im wanting to take it to 240-250 naturally before I actually start if I can. It would be a minimum of 6 months at least before I started a cycle. I've slowly started changin my diet, so hopefully the gains will follow. Thanks for your input

    I would just do Test E for 12 weeks at 500mgs/week. Maybe start also with anavar or D-bol. Simple safe effective. Definitely frontload.
