HCG questions instead of Steroid cycle @ 49 yrs of age

    Hello everyone,
I am 49 yrs old - 6'2" 265 lbs and have been keeping myself pretty big and strong and fit - I have not done any juice for over 22 yrs and am thinking about doing HCG to get my Testosterone higher. During past years my Total Testosterone levels have been around the range of 500 to 600. Although this is pretty good, my libido has been not as geat. I am looking to increase my sex drive and increase my Testosterone levels - sure I want that to help me out also with my workouts and my size, my strength and lean body mass. I would like to hear some recommendations/advice on this matter. I thank you very much for any help/good advice.

Have a full hormone panel run and tell your doc of your symptoms. That is the only way to know.

HCG can raise free test levels. 500iu 3x aweek is about all the body can utilize. Have some blood work done then give it a go and verify the result with more blood work??

I would wait for Swifto or someone with the knowlege of this and/or the time to search pub med etc for information about it to explore the possiblity of rebound effect. I would assume that if you use HCG to raise test levels that when you stop your test levels will then need to re-establish themselves so the whole deal may be a wash or worse yet counter productive but this is only an assumption.

Also if it is viable you would probably want to run an AI to keep the balance of test to e2 in check.

Like most things in life that seem obvious, but would be a great idea, if no one is doing them its usually for a reason.

Like Jim mentioned, the first thing you need to establish is your lab work. If your test serum is on the low side, you then need to see where your LH/FSH labs sit, and if the condition is leaning towards primary or secondary.

If your test serum is fairly good, call it >500ng/dl, then your LH is also probably at a decent level. You need to know that by adding HCG, you could indeed elevate your test serum level, but that will also begin to suppress your HPTA, which will mean that your LH level will begin to drop. The pituitary works in a negative loop fashion with the testicles, producing Luteinizing Hormone (LH) when testosterone serum levels drop. LH signals the testicles to produce endogenous testosterone. HCG essentially mimics the LH hormone, so if your testes begin to produce more testosterone with an exogenous compound that's feeding it the LH signal, the brain will automatically reduce and regulate the amount of LH it is producing.

With that said ... When/if you stop the HCG, the pituitary will be in a state of suppression, and then you will see your testosterone levels go in the tank. You will then need to prepare for some form of PCT, which you could refer to a lot of Swifto's thread discussions, or you will need to look at TRT.

If your testosterone serum levels are somewhat low, I'd just consider going TRT and be done with it. You can always add HCG to your protocol to help keep the testicles from shrinking. There's some excellent information in our HRT forum if you want to check it out. Please read this sticky from Kelkel: http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...-TRT-Physician It will list the various labs that you should be concentrating on.

    Best of luck!

In addition to what Vette said, you could add in low dose Cialis one or two times a day which your insurance will probably cover. It won't increase drive but will increase blood flow and it's overall a very healthy item to take.

If your test is at a normal level and it's unnecessary to enter the TRT world (don't do it unless you have to) you could also look into low dose Cabergoline (Dostinex) to improve your libido:

ps: relative to a comment above. Androgel is test, just a different delivery system. It will shut you down just like injectables will.
