Scar tissue - Foam roller
Has anybody heard of using a foam roller or massaging techniques to help get rid of "scar tissue"?
A guy was talking about it on another board , found it hilarious, so I figured I would see if anybody here has heard of it?
He said it cleared up pretty well, wouldn't think so. Another question, what do you do about scar tissue? Just leave it be?
Cheers

Foam rollers are great if you have the time and the inclination. They can be articulately uncomfortable when used properly. You can improvise, depending where your scar tissue is, with any firm/hard object eg tennis or golf balls for glutes, door frames for delts etc

What type of scar tissue? As Btern intimates is it from pinning or general scar tissue from years of lifting?

Scar tissue from training... Hmmmm, Id imagine the rollers can help a little but I can say that deep tissue therapy is very painfull and I can't imagine ur going to get that deep with a foam roller... In fact I know u won't....
Go to a physio who specialises in sports therapy and ask for some deep tissue work..... Then go and try the same on a roller... Not gonna happen lol
I almost pissed myself once in a deep tissue session.... Seriously, dribbled a little lol hahaha

Exactly why I said you could use other object baseline. Foam rollers are good to use on the ITB's and lowers back and also quads to a degree, as long as you can give yourself pain.
Funny, I've never nearly pissed myself during a massage but a prostate exam on the other hand...........NO SOURCES GIVEN

I use a 4 inch pvc pipe from lowes. Get the rubber end caps so it doesn't slide on the carpet. The pvc gets deeper because there is no give like foam.

^ LOL
Never heard of this but it's interesting. I'm losing injection sites due to scar tissue, I scar up real fast. Can't even hit my right glute or delts anymore.
I rotate everywhere and only use long esters these days but I still scar

What muscle group would you use that thing on Austinite?? I could use something on shoulders and quads.. Been pinning biceps, triceps and calves waiting for ST to disappear.

Calves aren't bad at all! I would do forearms but there are too many nerves there. Doing biceps/triceps the day before gives it a really nice pump, same with calves!:P

Haha, that sucks! A friend said he was trying to use a SEO in his forearms. After hitting a nerve three times he gave up. I wouldn't go on forearms unless I was shown exactly where to pin. The chart makes it confusing, sends a red flag in my brain. DO NOT PIN FOREARMS!

3 years, 3 nerves. Not a bad ratio.

I managed to find the right spots on my biceps so they don't bruise often.
It was getting annoying with a purple bruise on my arm. Especially in the hotter states such as Cali and Texas where long sleeves aren't used often. Coming up with excuses can be tedious too when people ask, I usually just say that I train MMA..

Bruising is not relevant to me. My body is covered in hyper-pigmentation.
