Should I be looking into doing a cycle yet? Need to get stronger AND lose fat

I've been a member here for a while but am just now finally getting serious about getting back in shape, I'm 39 and really realizing now that life keeps going by and its a waste for me to be so out of shape, especially compared to the shape I used to be in. I used to weight train regularly (4-5 times a week, very faithful!) when I was in my late teens to mid 20's and was in good shape, never quite totally ripped or totally huge, but good enough. I'm 5'10" and "bigger boned", so I think my ideal weight is around 200, I now am up to 270! Most people can't believe it, because I carry it well, but no doubt about it, I'm FAT!!!

I've been working out again seriously for about a month now and I'm seeing the usual early results where once I get past the soreness of the first week I can start going up a bit in weight. I'm watching my diet carefully and supplementing it with whey protein shakes. I used to use creatine when I was younger and had good strength results but I'm scared to use it now because my experience was always to gain some weight (I think mostly water weight) when using it, something which I really want to avoid.

My question for the forum is-I have a good source for "gear", pretty much any of the popular ones out there I can get, so I'm wondering if it is worth it for me to give a cycle a shot and try to get these workouts into overdrive? I do definitely want to get stronger and convert some of my excess weight into solid muscle, because I know that the more muscle you carry, the faster your metabolism works. Any suggestions on what to use for my cycle if I do go for it? I had always heard that Winstrol was a good one for both strength and getting cut, but beyond that I'm still doing my research here. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

What do you estimate your body fat to be currently? What does your daily nutrition plan look like with total cals and macros for each?

I would hit the gym longer if I was you for at least a full year.Try to get your bodyfat down as much as possible to avoid the bigger risk of side effects while on cycle.Try to get yourself down to at least 220-230 pounds at the very very minimun and Im being generous.Hit up the cardio to the max and make sure you eat right and recover properly to avoid overtraining.Make your joints stronger so that when youre on gear you can avoid injury to your joints, tendons, and ligaments.A healthy body will respond well to aas...an unhealthy body will get worse.

    Diet diet diet.

The nutrition section will be your best friend. Get down to 220 minimum over the next year before you get into gear and even then wait and see what vets say at that point

I bet my current body fat is over 30%, like I said, I have always been a big boned, stocky guy with sort of a barrel chest, but now I have a gut to match! My daily nutrition plan leans more towards protein than carbs, I'm not a total counter of every calorie but I'm trying to keep under 3000 calories a day for now and I'd say I'm doing pretty well each day. I figured my BMR is about 3400 cal/day. I had always heard that 1g/lb of body weight was good for protein, that's a lot of protein, I usually get around 200-250g a day. I'm still working on figuring out my carbs/proteins/fats split, but I lean heavy towards the protein, less on carbs and fat. Lots of lean meats and protein shakes!

The 1g/lb body weight is an approximate guideline. When bulking cleanly, I typically shoot for 300g protein, a little higher on complex carbs (~350-400) and fats between 60-65g. For cutting, obviously lower the carbs.

Right now, I'd recommend the following. You'll get other opinions as well from the knowledgable membership here:
    - fasted cardio, 3-4x per week; 30-45 mins each
    - strength conditioning 4 days per week (5 if you can manage); 75-90 mins each
    - seek guidance on the nutrition section to build a nutrition plan conducive to reducing bf
    - stay the course for 24 months

Anabolic agents aren't ideal if you're bf is over 20%. That's a general guideline. Sure, people over 20% have used them but they don't promote weight loss per se, are less effective as bf increases and the risks/side effects increase with excess weight.

With a commitment to nutrition and training, you'll knock that weight down, and as pointed out earlier, anabolics should be chosen when you've disciplined yourself to a good nutrition and training plan for at least 12 months (IMO, 24 months). Nothing replaces training and nutrition and anabolics should not be put ahead of commitments to nutrition and training.

    Agree with info above.

AAS can be problematic at with high body fat. You will also want to make sure you are lifting for a while so your connective tissue can hold up to the increased loads that AAS allows.

A BMR of 3400 seems unlikely unless you have a boatload of muscle mass under there.

I agree with the above Bro you are not ready.1st your bf is way to high 2nd you have not been working out long enough. With that alone you risk injuring your joints and tendons.Stay in the gym hitting it hard good diet w/cardio and you will get the results you want.Good luck.
