    Pinning triceps?

    Hey guys,

So my trainer has taught me about pinning and receptors in muscles and why some are better then others to pin. He taught me a 3 finger trick to mark out my delts and usually works perfectly, but I still have to pin a couple times to get it right some pins. So my question is pinning tris really that big of a difference when it comes to receptors. I am pinning 300mg testE. The reason I ask is I don't have boulders for shoulders (working on it ) and I can pin my tris in the dark. I have pinned B12 for awhile and never have had an issue. Until I can get my delts down packed is it going to make a big difference hitting my tris?

    Thanks

Test is not site specific. Why would you want to pin a tri when you have full access to a glute?

I understand not being spot specific. Merely am asking about tris for ease. I have not tried glutes yet.

And pinning solo glutes just seem more difficult to reach.

Pinning triceps is good! Ventro-glute is nice as well. Rotate as many sites as possible. When pinning a new area do 0.5ml bi-laterally, helps keep PIP down.

The "receptor" idea you have is not correct.

My tri's are sensitive and usually have to give them a nice time off before pins. But i agree w/my friends, other spots available.

you are not going to achieve a more receptive site by pinning a specific muscle...IMO its a myth

Love pinning tri and biceps nothing like training an arm full of oil. Rotate your sites as often as possible and receptor comment is nonsense so don't take no notice of your trainer on that one.

well, I say glute, but actually "hip" would probably be more accurate. You are right, I can't twist that far either.

A few years back, i was experimenting with sites, and decided to pin my calves. Fun! =)

Thanks for the info guys, I would like to clear a few things up as I posted on my phone and was being short.

I understand spot specific pinning is a myth.

I am now curious about this receptor thing. I was told glutes, delts and quads have more receptors making them a more beneficial muscle to pin. Is this not true?

I like pinning my tris because they are literally painless and super easy, if I get the right spot on my delts it isnt bad but I miss more often then not and have hit a vein which wasn't horrible but wasn't pleasant.

The main reason I ask is I want to make sure I am getting the most out of each pin, but tired of feeling like a pin cushion with my delts.

    Thanks!

Rotate, rotate, rotate to reduce scar tissue. I don't know your trainer's qualifications but many are only certified, not formally trained, and have limited knowledge about most things related to fitness. Not all trainers are alike but many are only self proclaimed experts so unless you know he is very well educated on the topic, he may just be giving you an opinion. I have worked with 4 personal trainers and only one thoroughly knew his stuff and had real experience and formal education on AAS.

As pointed out by several members already, there is no real benefit to pinning one muscle over another except the following:

    1. Less nerve innervation in some areas and thus less likely to hit a nerve
    2. Larger muscles may be easier to inject with less PIP
    3. Some areas are more vascular increasing odds of hitting a vessel.

    Thanks for the info MuscleInk!

I am learning and that is why I ask multiple sources. My trainer has been pinning for 5 years and competes he knows his stuff, but doesn't know everything.

    Thanks

Good to know. Glad you have someone with good knowledge in your corner.

BTW - I've pinned tris, bis, traps, pecs, calves, quads, glutes, delts. I stick to glutes, delts, and pecs now.

About how long after pinning is the area sore? And do you put anything on the needle before pinning?

"Put anything on the needle"? You should be using a sterile needle so the last thing you should be doing is touching or putting anything on that needle. That's only going to increase your chances of an infection. Do not touch the needle.

As for PIP, it varies. Usually 24 hours after the injection but I've had PIP occur 48 hours after an injection. There are many reasons for this.

I'm glad you're asking, but you mentioned how knowledgable your trainer is. These are basic concepts that someone who has cycled before should be guiding you on. That's why I worry about some of things I hear on here from guys claiming that they are working with guys who know what they are doing (trainers, buddies, suppliers, etc.) or claim they have everything "dialed in/ready to go" (e.g. Nutrition, training, knowledge, etc.)

Again, I'm glad you're asking but it really makes me wonder why your knowledgable trainer isn't helping you with this. He should be.

When I dont know something I tend to as from more then 1 source and figure out what makes sense. He knows a lot, but obviously not everything and crossing his info on here if I have questions seemed like a good idea.

As I said, glad you're asking but some pretty basic questions - injections 101.

Be safe. You certainly don't want an infection!
