    Post Body fat % and calipers

    Hey guys, I've never had my body fat calculated. At this time I don't know where and the ones that do the testing more then just calipers cost. Poor crazy mike has no $$.
    Is the caliper testing good enough to use a comparison chart for me to use as I go on. I've heard it is just bs and it will vary each and EVERY time. Example I was given is that you can have the same person get a % and with calipers and at the same time do it again and it vary each time so that making it complete bs ? So do all you guys check yours a different way other than calipers ? Always being thin I never had to worry. Never even when I was competing at age 35.

    They can vay to a degree but will usually get you in the neighborhood. Post a full body (faceless) pic and the guys can usually get you a good idea

    Off to the gym. I will do that later fore sure ! oh no.....i don't even know what I look like in a photo NOW with by body ?

    Calipers are only as good as the operator. If you have different people or inexperienced people doing your measurements they will be both inacurrate and all over the place. I am lucky to have a local guy who runs a pwr lifting gym do my measurements he has been doing clients for over 15 yrs and even though he only sees me every couple of months ( so he has no way of knowing what to expect) his numbers are always right in line with any changes to diet or workouts I have made.

    a 9 site caliper test had me at 7.8%bf when the BOD POD (where u should go) had me at 13.1%

    later on down the road the calipers had me at 7.88% and the BOD POD (where u should go ) had me at 9.9%

    did i mention u should google "BOD POD" for ur area and go?

    Cool beans my friend, I just googled it and there is one at the Community College. When I get my check this month I'll get it done. I don't have a clue what it is. I was suggested to send a photo in so some of you guys might have an IDEA. ya know what you've seen in your experience, just for a note

    Same with me. When I first started working out I started out fat, lost a lot of weight. Went from 300 to 169 and the calipers gave readings varying from 12 percent to 15 percent at 169. The variation depended on who was taking the reading but, as it turned out, even the lowest was not remotely close to the actual reading. When I went to my local university to test after getting a 15% reading they used a water displacement method, which is much more accurate. I came out at 7.6%


    My conclusion is that they calipers are a very rough approximation and best and a complete farce at worst.

    If you can see your washboard you are probably at or below 10%. If you cannot you are probably high.
