Hey guys, how much NAC do you take?

Just added NAC and acetyl l-carnitine to my supps to try to lower my liver enzymes that won't seem to come down.

I found a study for the carnitine, 2000mg/day was administered.

But can't find and studys or even good reports with a mg dose for NAC

I'm also taking liv52. Anything else I should be taking?

    Thanks.

Let me tell you, take NAC! Bonaparte got me to take it, and my liver enzymes was freakishy high. High enought that the Dr wanted to start me on interfeuron(or something like this, really unsure but it was severe). I was told to take 2-3 grams a day, with equal amounts of Vitamin C for a month, then run a maintenance dose of 600mgs daily, everyday forever. After 2 months, my enzymes are on the low side of the spectrum! It is amazing. Since using it, I have ran oral winny, a ton of acetaminiphen everyday, and basically alot of liver unfrienly stuff to check how efficient this stuff is. I am getting BW done every month and my liver enzymes continue to drop each month, and that is 6 straight months of BW. I now run 600mgs daily with 1000mgs of vitamin C. But to lower them, I would do as I started for a month, then drop to maintenance. Good luck with it!

I started NAC a month ago and will continue taking through september. I take about a gram a day.

There are a lot of beneficial properties with NAC, and I'm not taking it for it's liver health benefits...

I'd steer clear of carnitine, as a new study links it to heart disease. Not worth whatever small benefits it may possess.

Not from what I read. Media lynching against carnitine. Life extension just posted a rebuttal on it. I can't post the link to it from my phone. It actually helps prevent heart disease.

    Life Extension sells Carnitine doesn't it?............................................... .................................................. .................................................. ...
Good article though. It does (correctly) mention, with references to credible sources, that the study was inaccurately reported in the media. The link in the original study was, specifically, that gut bacteria of people who consumed large quantities of red meat. The red meat eater's gut bacteria converted carnitine into a substance that promotes Atherosclerosis. Fortunately, many of us stay away from large quantities of red meat.

I think I'll keep it until my blood work comes back clean then stay on a maintenance dose of 1-2gr of the NAC.

    Thanks again guys.
