    AAS and Hypothyroidsim

Im new to the forum and have what I think is a fairly specific questions that I cant find an answer to anywhere else.

Ive searched but I cant really find anything, hopefully Ive not missed it and this is the correct place to post.

I have an underactive thyroid. Diagnosed when 22.

I currently take 225ug of levothyroxine a day, Ive never cycled before but am wanting to later on in the year.

Ive read that AAS can affect the thyroid function and im worried that with my thyroid not working well anyway Ill end up messed up massively whilst using.

When my thyroid first stopped working I felt really shitty for ages before they got the dose right, so Im not keen to go through that again.
I can live with (I imagine) the dose being slightly off during the cycle, im more concerned I guess about my medication being completely ineffective.

So does my hypothryoidism mean I should have more concerns about cycling than anyone else? And what is (if any) the likely effect of taking AAS on my thyroid/ thyroid medication?

If anyone interested Im 31, 6', 218lbs bodyfats high at estimate 22%.

Ive been lifting with varying degrees of dedication for like the last 15 years or so but with more of a focus on size/strength for the last 4. Id be in better shape but had most of 2011 -12 of due to knee surgery.

Id be looking to do say a basic 500 mg per week of test later in the year when ive dropped some fat.

That said I do do struggle to lose weight once I get down to about 18% fat could be motivation, could be my thyroid.
    Thanks

Hypothyroidism usually is a liflong syndrome and you will probably be taking your T4 for the rest of your life. I have known about my hypoT and been treating it for 6 years now. During this period I have run a Sus-Primo, Prop-Var and Var only cyles and have not noticed any major differences in my thyroid activity. Unfortunately the thryoid cannot be turned on by a shot or pills like htpa but you can take medication like T4 or T3 pills to synthetically carry out the same functions. What are your TSH, T3 and T4 levels? Get your T3 check for sure. American doctors really downplay the importance of T3 and like to prescribe T4 to their patients. When in reality T4 is converted into T3 in the body for use anyway and thyroids that cannot function properly have a problem with this conversion.

Taking thyroid medication will shut down whatever functionality your thyroid gland had.
with that said, adding AAS can not decrease your thyroid function in your situation, as it's already flatlined and you are on total replacement therapy.

    Don't worry.

Yeah I will be taking the t4 forever #i don't doubt it, been on it for about 10 years and generally the dose goes up every year

Ive no idea what my TSH, t3, and t4 levels are, if im honest I never really pay much attention to the test results and rely on the doctor to know when to increase dosage. I get the bloods test done every year at least once.
Im in the uk and I think its the same situation with doctors preferring to prescibe T4 and not T3

Had a thyroidectomy in 1993. Have been on synthroid ever since. From my experience while on HRT, you tend to hold more water than the average person. My dose is low, 60mg 2x a week of Test E. I would think you'll blow up with 500 mgs. There are other meds to take. If your not on HRT, I would find another choice for what you want. Plenty of strength drugs out there. Good luck.

Im a bit confused by what you’ve said could you clarify

HRT = Hormone replacement therapy ?

Are you saying you take 120mg of test E a week in addition to the synthoid ? and that this causes you to hold a lot of water ?

That seems a low dose is this as trt rather than to gain size ?

Are you saying if I am taking synthroid (which I am, it’s a brand of levothyroixine isn’t ?) not to take Test but to find another AAS?
Or if im not taking synthroid not to take test E and to find something different

Finally is that “blow up” in a bad way as in massively bloated, or blow up in a good way i.e. get huge

    Thanks

talk to your doctor about taking T3. Insist on it. I took T4 the first 2 years of my treatment... it was OK. Then I switched to T3 and I felt like I was 18yrs old again.
