41 and time to get off my fat ass
Like my title says Im 41 and fat..When I was 15-19 I was really into lifting and had a great Physique. I ran 5'11 and 180 solid..College and being married made me way to comfortable and I ballooned to 295 Im now at 245. My biggest prob is "and I know Im gonna get aot of shit for this" 6 months ago my wife/girlfriend of 28 years walked..the guy she hanging with isnt in all the great shape but he is an fitness instructor of sorts. She said something that really got me and threw me into a frikn spiral, she said "oh freddys got amazing legs" I ve always had alot of prob with my size but that fkd with me hard. Im a big guy very broad chest and shoulders My buddy whom is a body builder always says Im wasting what Ive got naturally.. SO here I am, I want to do an 8 week cycle and take off some of this weight and grow my arms to match my chest .. I was considering Anavar but at this point would probably go injectable.. For someone my age what could I realistically look at in 8 weeks if I dedicate myself..This will be life long but I really want this boost..If not just to screw with her and feel better about myself. by the way I only have one kidney, would this be a concern with anabolics?

Welcome to the board, if you're serious about the weight loss it would be much smarter and safer for you in the long run to use diet and cardio. Drop down safely to around 15% body fat then consider using steroids . Think of your over all health, it's not a race.

when taking steroids , muscular strength quickly outpaces the strength of your tendons and ligaments. Not being in shape, and on top of that, fragile tendons, could spell a quick injury you had not anticipated.
I know not the advice you were looking for, but you really should slow down and just stay focused on eating a clean diet and hitting the cardio until you are around 15% body fat. Invest $25 in some body fat calipers so you can track your progress. Don't be afraid to wait a couple of years before considering steroids. I know you said in great shape as a lad, but that was a lifetime ago, and that is not representative of you today. Look at this summer not as one where you will get ripped, but instead as one that will prepare you for next year to be ripped. You just need to get your body in shape this year so you won't hurt yourself.
I know, I hear the counter arguments to what I just said all the time. But think about what I just said, and consider it if you would.
An anavar only cycle will also shut down your natural testosterone production, which straight out is not a good thing.
So be patient, be willing to do the hard work, and regardless of what any of the TV commercials tell you, you WILL NOT GET RIPPED in 90 days.
Good luck mate!

Hey man, I was exactly where you find yourself today approximately 7 years ago. Use this situation to your advantage. Get ****ing angry about it. Use that anger and make being the best you possibly can be in every aspect of your life all the time.
I dropped 100lbs in 14 months from 285 to 185lbs. By hitting the gym and walking/jogging combined with sensible dietary constraints. Weights will increase your lean mass which will increase your base metabolic rate. This is how steroids burn fat. Anavar won't help any more then any other steroid , except in you might be able to see your gains better as you will see less water retention. There are many steroids that would provide much better gains. Test is always your best bet for a first cycle.
The problem with you still carrying 20 something % body fat is you will have a much more difficult time controlling estrogen conversion (and therefore be more prone to gyno) then if you were more lean. Estrogen converts to testosterone and the more fat you have, the greater this conversion sensitivity seems to be (in most people). If you can wait great. If you don't and I can be of any help to you I will be glad to assist where I can. I have been where you are my friend, and let me assure you if you put the time in better days are in your future then you ever dreamed. Once you get to 50 posts you can pm. Hit me up with any questions you may have. Check out the nutrition forum for a great start to eating healthy. Good luck man.

Ill start my cardio this week Im just lost on nutrition. I didnt want to so much get ripped I just wanted to show her Im making strides and to be truthful I want to make him nervous and kind of turn the tables " it not enough I got 5 inches on him and a full head of hair" shes not dating this guy but he is there and wants her.. the anger has helped in my calorie intake..I havent been this determined in 20 years..I appreciate no one judging since im really being upfront..the though of hitting the gym 4 hours a day with steroids was very appealing but everyone here is making a lot of sense.

I know this isn't going to seem possible, but after getting where you are heading. She won't even be an after thought in your mind. I was exactly like you man. I wanted her to regret the decisions she made. By the time she starting having second thoughts, I had moved on to better things and better/younger women.
Currently she has won the first battle, that's why she is inside her head even though she isn't deserving if your attention. When you come to the realization she is insignificant and no longer an influence in your life or motivations.... that is when you have won the war.

Hey buddy welcome. Believe me I know what your going through. I had a similar situation with my ex wife. I blew up to 255lbs @ 6. 0'. I began training and in 1 year I managed to get down to 180lbs naturally. It's hard work but believe with a good motivation booster you'll reach your goals in no time.
One thing to help motivate you is imagining yourself in much better shape, then imagine you see your ex and your legs and veins are bulging out so hard she orgasm. Then your new bad ass girl free comes and grabs your newly developed muscular arms and say.......... Ok let me stop .. Lol got carried away sorry.

I can appreciate where you are coming from with the time invested in your marriage. I had 17 years and three children. Just don't get to caught up in the hopes this will win her back. Do this for you and see where everything falls.

It's great that you already lost 50lbs, and also great that you accept reality how it is. You are FAT, not "thick", FAT.
All of us have a body weight or bodyweight range which works best for us. Your story is common, spurns me for greater motivation to continue on the path I am on.
I wanted to say, so your goal weight should be similar to your 180 lbs weight where you where "hot" at. I think at this age you are going to be a bit bigger and carry more muscle, so around 200-210lbs should be perfect. So keep going with your loss.
I can't say to do or not do the roids, but it will speed up any goals you have an improve recovery. So figure that one out for yourself.
I'm glad you accepted reality and have taken complete responsibility for it.

No Im fat..and for years I did the whole "well you dont have to be skinny to be healthy" bullshit, added weight actually gave me kidney cancer..I do hold my weight better than most men as Its distributed head to tow I dont gain in one spot..I am extremely masculine to the point my body builder friend calls me a neanderthal but when the shirt comes of I aint orgy material..Its a shame because I have enormous shoulders and a very broad chest..210 is my goal.. IM vain enough and and vindictive enough to get there..Id just love to build my biceps up quick... Unfortunately all I have close and within my budget is planet fitness...well see how long till I get kicked out...can anyone comment on test boosters like test 300 at gnc or should I stay away from that also till im below 20%

" it not enough I got 5 inches on him "
He must be hung like a field mouse!!! A hotter, younger chick on your arm will get her attention WAY more than working out....Exercise for yourself, pay for the escort to make an impression

here's my other thought, and then I'll stop punting this thing around...
use your anger to get you motivated and in the gym, and if your motivation to "show her" is in the short term, more power to you mate!
But...
...in the long term, you need to do this ONLY for you!
What we do is a lot of friggin work, and the only one you need to do this for is yourself.
...of course, there ARE certain benefits of being muscular....!

Yup! Use that anger to motivate yourself! Prove what ya know ya got!!
At 39, my wife of 16 years walked, and left me with our boys. After a few weeks of self pity, I said "4uck this $hit!"! 5 years later, I'm in the best shape of my life, and she's a fat slob...

It's pretty interesting to see how many of us are in the same boat. We get fat, she loses weight, and then realizes she doesn't need us around anymore.
I'm glad to see some success stories here. It gives me hope.
Listen to the advice being given here. I was pretty eager to get started not too long ago and learned through questions and research the type of adverse side effects that my high BF% could have. I decided to hold off and really tighten up my diet and increased my cardio. I am starting to feel great, look better, and I have actually decided to put of cycling all together due to the results I'm seeing. That will obviously change when I get to my goal BF% but I'm glad I didn't ignore the advice and act in haste.

Welcome bro!! I have to agree with Times Roman!! I went through the same thing with my X. We been split 2 years. I was also really fit back in the day!! I got serious about fitness about a hour ago. My angry and attitude of "I will show her" drove me!! After about 6 months I started changing, learning, getting more into training.
Now I barely remember her name!! I realized it is about me. I love training, it is my meditation!! The more I go the gym, the more I wont to learn, improve, do better for me!! Plus I have made some great friends at the gym.
I am also new here. My first post was "when to cycle" and after deciding to slow it down I am glad I did. I learned so much about diet and exercise from reading the stickie posts its insane. I beleive you can make great gains through diet and excersise.
Stick around you will get there bro!! Enjoy!! oh and ignore the haters. There is going to be a few!
